La Manga Club continues to attract top teams at its training facilities in the Murcia Region
Germany’s Borussia Dortmund will undertake a mid-winter training break at La Manga Club, in Murcia, Spain, for the third successive year, as they prepare to continue their assault on the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League.

On Saturday 11th January, at 4pm, residents of the region can enjoy a free friendly game between Germany’s Borussia Dortmund and Belgian league leaders Standard Liège. Entry is free of charge at the grounds in La Manga Club. The football and sports facilities are well signposted on the resort.

Germany’s Borussia Dortmund will undertake a mid-winter training break at La Manga Club, in Murcia, Spain, for the third successive year, as they prepare to continue their assault on the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League.

Currently sitting fourth in the Bundesliga and looking forward to a trip to Russia for a difficult last-16 UEFA Champions League clash with FC Zenit, Dortmund, and their highly rated coach Jürgen Klopp, will arrive at La Manga Club on January 9 and remain there until January 17.

Staying at the five-star Hotel La Manga Club Principe Felipe, star names such as much-sought-after striker Robert Lewandowski, Marco Reus, Jakub Blaszczykowski and Roman Weidenfeller will be utilising the venue’s world-class training facilities throughout their stay, after it was selected as the club’s sole training destination in Murcia.

And, in preparation for the resumption of the Bundesliga season after the now-traditional winter break, Dortmund will face Belgian league leaders Standard Liège in a mid-season friendly at La Manga Club (ko 4pm CET), as both sides look to prepare for second half of their promising campaigns. The match is free entry for spectators.

Dortmund are just the latest professional football outfit to base themselves at La Manga Club’s world-class facilities, which have, in the past 12 months played host to no fewer than 60 teams including Europe’s top-rated side, Barcelona, their Spanish rivals Real Madrid, and Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk.

International sides are also frequent visitors and England’s new women’s head coach Mark Sampson takes charge of the side for the first time at La Manga Club this month when his squad arrives for a warm weather training camp from January 12-18, while the venue will also provide the stage for teenagers from all over Europe to demonstrate their talents in two international under-17 and under-19 tournaments.

The early-year camp at La Manga Club has become an established part of the England women's calendar and they are just one of a number of international teams who will head to the five-star resort this spring to make use of its world-class facilities – which include eight international standard grass pitches.

La Manga Club has made a name for itself catering for the needs of the world’s sporting elite. As well as its football training amenities, the resort boasts a fully equipped gym and indoor swimming pool, ideal for recovery sessions; and a host of rooms and spaces to cater for tactical meetings, private team dining or any other requirements.

Set in 1,400 acres, La Manga Club boasts unrivalled facilities as a sports and leisure destination including three 18-hole championship golf courses, a 28-court tennis centre and a 2,000sqm spa and fitness centre. It also offers the choice of a five-star hotel, four-star serviced apartments and townhouses and more than 20 bars and restaurants.
