New urban speed limit for the city of Murcia

The 30 km/h signs will be going up in Murcia between now and August

New urban speed limit for the city of MurciaSome of the consequences of the new national road traffic law which was passed in parliament on 20th March are about to become apparent in Murcia, following the awarding of the contract to install new road signs denoting 30 km/h speed limits in the centre of the city.

The new signs will affect a total of 95.5 km of urban roads, aiming to reduce the emission of environmentally harmful gases while at the same time making the city’s streets safer for pedestrians and cyclists, and the cost of installing them over the next four months has been set at precisely 139,937.95€ by the company which won the contract, Imesapi.

In order to keep traffic moving the main roads in the city will not be affected: these are Avenida Juan Carlos I, Calle Mayor (Espinardo), Avenida de los Pinos, Avenida Mariano Rojas, Avenida Miguel de Cervantes, Plaza De Castilla, Ronda Norte, Plaza Diez de Revenga, Avenida P. Rivera, Plaza Circular, Calle Isaac Albéniz, Avenida de la Constitución, Gran Vía Salzillo, Plaza Juan XXIII, Ronda de Levante, Avenida Primero de Mayo, Avenida Lope de Vega, Ronda Sur, Calle San Antón, Calle San Andrés, Calle García Alix, Calle Juan de la Cierva, Calle Pintor Sobejano, Avenida Teniente Flomesta, Paseo de Garay, Calle Intendente Jorge Palacios, Avenida Infante Juan Manuel, Ronda de Garay, Calle Obispo Frutos, Avenida Rector José Loustau, Avenida Jaime I, Avenida Gutiérrez Mellado, Calle Dr. Tapia Sanz, Calle Antoñete Gálvez, Avenida de la Fama, Calle Pablo VI, Avenida San Juan de la Cruz, Calle Santa Joaquina Vedruna, Calle de la Princesa, Calle Torre de Romo, Avenida de Canalejas, Calle J.A. Hernández del Águila, Alameda de Colón, Plaza González Conde, Calle de Floridablanca, Carretera del Palmar and Avenida Ciudad de Almería.
Apart from these main throughfares the rest of the streets will be changing over to the 30 km/h limit in the areas of Barrio de El Carmen, Infante Juan Manuel, Santiago el Mayor, San Andrés, San Antolín, San Nicolás, San Pedro, Santa Catalina, San Miguel, San Bartolomé, Entorno Plaza Belluga, Santa Eulalia, San Lorenzo, San Juan, La Fama, La Paz, Vistabella, San Antón, Santa María de Gracia, San Basilio, El Ranero, Santiago y Zaraiche and Espinardo.
