The number of active cases in the region is 10,355
The Murcian regional health service has reported that during the last 24 hours, a total of 911 new cases of coronavirus have been diagnosed in the Region of Murcia, bringing the total number of cases to date up to 35,003.
Of the 911 new cases, 314 correspond to the municipality of Murcia, 78 to Cartagena, 44 to Lorca, 37 to Molina de Segura, 37 to Torre Pacheco, 33 to San Javier, 24 to Cieza, 23 to Caravaca de la Cruz, 22 to Ceutí, 21 to Alcantarilla, 20 to San Pedro del Pinatar, 19 to Jumilla, 19 to Totana, 17 to Los Alcázares, 17 to Alhama de Murcia, 17 to Archena, 13 to Cehegín, 13 to Moratalla, 11 to Mazarrón, 11 to Yecla, 10 to Abanilla, 9 to Fortuna, 9 to Las Torres de Cotillas, 8 to Alguazas, 8 to Bullas, 8 to Villanueva del Río Segura, 6 to Lorquí, 6 to Mula, 6 to La Unión, 5 to Abarán, and 5 to Beniel, the remainder distributed amongst the remaining municipalities.
Fatalities:
There have been three covid fatalities reported in the last 24 hours; three males, aged 63, 83 and 89, from the municipalities of Cartagena, Abanilla and Ceutí, bringing the total number of covid-related deceased up to 303.
Hospitalisations:
As predicted by the regional health authorities, the numbers of patients requiring hospital treatment is increasing as the case numbers increase. Nine patients were admitted to covid wards yesterday, bringing the total number of patients in covid isolation wards up to 500. The number in intensive care has risen to 87; both of these figures are record levels for the region during this pandemic. This leaves 9,616 patients in home isolation.
Recoveries:
The total number of patients tested by PCR, diagnosed as covid positive and given the all-clear is now 22,636, of which 657 relate to the last 24 hour period.
Accumulated incidence rate and testing:
During the last 24 hour period the regional health authority has carried out 6,070 covid tests; 5838 of which are PCR tests and antigen tests and the remaining 241, antibody tests. The rate of positive tests is 14.9%.
The accumulated incidence rate per 100,000 of population in the Region of Murcia is now 363 for 7 days and 639 for 14 days.
The worst affected municipality by cases per capita over the last 7 days is Campos del Río with cases of 2712/100,000; Villanueva with 2233; Beniel 733; Moratalla 637; Lorqui 616; Archena 559, and Bullas 546.
37 municipalities have an IA rate of over 200.
The Spanish Government wants to reduce the rate to 25, the level considered by the WHO to indicate that the pandemic is under control. Currently the region has generalised transmission which means that the virus is spreading throughout the population and is out of control.
