ARCHIVED ARTICLE The cumulative incidence rate continues to decrease, as do hospital admissions

Data for the last 24 hours clearly demonstrates that the restrictions imposed to limit the spread of coronavirus are working, with the number of new cases diagnosed falling to just 249.
Of the 249 new cases, 65 correspond to the municipality of Murcia, 22 to Cartagena, 22 to San Javier, 14 to Yecla, 13 to Molina de Segura, 11 to Torre Pacheco, 9 to Jumilla, 8 to Los Alcázares, 8 to Caravaca de La Cruz, 7 to Archena, 7 to Calasparra, 7 to San Pedro del Pinatar, 6 to Alhama de Murcia, and 6 to Mazarrón, with the remainder spread around the region in smaller quantities.

Around 4,000 PCR tests were undertaken during this 24 hour period, yielding a positivity rate of 6.2%, which is less than half of the level reported last week, showing that the incidence of the virus within the community is lower.

AI rate:
The cumulative incidence rate across the last 14 day period has now fallen to 136 for 7 days and 396 for 14 days, clearly indicating how much the number of new cases has dropped across the region. However, some areas continue to generate concern and in the last 24 hours the AI rate has increased noticeably in several areas, the worst being Yecla which now has a rate of 1158 per 100,000 of inhabitants, followed by Totana with 937, Caravaca 842, Alhama de Murcia 733,Los Alcázares 687, Jumilla 688 and Torre Pacheco 661.

Fatalities:
Eleven more people have died with covid-19 in the Region of Murcia, in the last 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths up to 578. The deceased are eight men and three women aged 82, 80, 80, 79, 89, 63, 76, 73, 70, 82 and 89, four from Murcia and the rest from Torres de Cotillas, Archena, Alguazas, Molina de Segura, Yecla, Mazarrón and Lorca.
Hospitalisations:
As a positive point, hospital admissions have fallen in the last 24 hours, although "unfortunately slowly", says the spokesman for the regional health authority. In total, 456 people remain hospitalized with covid in the Region, 37 less than on the previous day, of which 93 remain in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Since the peak was reached two weeks ago, the total of those in hospital has fallen by 27.8%.
7,687 patients remain in home isolation with mild symptoms.

Recoveries:
In the last 24 hours the number of patients recovering from the virus has exceeded the number of new cases, taking the active cases down to 8,039 and the total of cases detected since the beginning of the pandemic to 52,227.
This brings the total of patients who have been given the all-clear to 43,506.
