ARCHIVED - 16 municipalities of Murcia region have reported new cases during the last 14 days

Mazarrón however, has two new cases, although other coastal areas remain clear
Weekly epidemiological figures produced by the regional health authorities which analyse the distribution of Covid cases throughout the Region of Murcia were published on Wednesday evening, and show that 16 municipalities of the 45 which comprise the Region of Murcia have reported active cases within the last 14 days.
The highest number of new cases has been in the far north of the region in Yecla, with 9 cases, followed by Lorca, with 8, and Murcia, with 7, in addition to the five cases in the same Archena family which was reported last weekend.
The breakdown is as follows:
South and southwest:
Totana, which was not put through to Phase 2 along with the remainder of the region because of an outbreak involving six agricultural workers two weeks ago, has registered 3 cases. Yesterday the families who were put in quarantine as a result of that outbreak were allowed to return home.

North and northwest
There are five new cases in the northwest area; 2 in Calasparra, 2 in Caravaca de la Cruz and 1 in Cehegín, plus Jumilla 1 and the 9 in Yecla, both in the Altiplano, or the north.

Alcantarilla 2; Archena 5; Cieza 6; Murcia 7;
Mar Menor and Cartagena
Cartagena 3; Torre Pacheco 1; La Unión 2

Murcia figures on Wednesday evening:
Tests: The daily figures released by the Murcia Health Authority on Wednesday 27th May show just one new positive case has been recorded using the PCR swab test method. Note that the figures are compiled on Tuesday evening but released on Wednesday afternoon along with the national data.
869 tests have been undertaken during the last 24 hours and the total tested by this method in the Murcia Region is now 37,460.
46,072 tests have been taken using the rapid tester kit method which identifies antibodies in the blood. These tests, however, are not included amongst the official Covid cases figures.Today a further 28 antibody tests have returned a positive result, bringing the total number of those who have recorded a positive result using both testing methods to 2,892. (Note, the national Ministry only records the PCR figures, NOT the antibody tests).
Fatalities: No fatalities have been recorded for the sixth consecutive day and the total of 149 remainst the same.
Cured: 8 patients were classified as cured in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number to 1259, tested by the PCR method.
Active cases: 180
Hospitalised: The number of hospitalisations has increased by just one, with 24 people receiving hospital care, four of them in intensive care.
National positioning of Murcia
Murcia continues to perform well compared to other regions of Spain and continues to record the lowest number of cases on the mainland. It has however, lost its position as the best performer in percentage terms of new cases during the last 14 days based on a per capita calculation and now lies in third place, behind Andalucía and Asturias with 3.61 cases per 100,000 of population. The national average is now 14.86/100,000.
