ARCHIVED ARTICLE
The situation continues to steadily improve in the Murcia Region
237 new cases of the virus have been diagnosed in the region of Murcia within the last 24 hours, 68 more than on the previous day, when 169 were detected.
These figures are, however, very low compared to the previous weeks and continue to mark a downward tendency overall.
Of the 237 new cases, 46 correspond to the municipality of Murcia, 23 to Cartagena, 21 to Torre Pacheco, 17 to Lorca, 18 to Los Alcázares, 12 to Mazarrón, 11 to Yecla, 10 to Águilas, 8 to Puerto Lumbreras, 7 Alhama from Murcia, 7 to Archena, 7 to San Javier, 6 to Caravaca de la Cruz, 6 to Cieza, and 6 to Jumilla. The remainder are distributed amongst the remaining municipalities of the region, albeit in smaller quantities. These new cases raise the number of infected since the beginning of the pandemic in the region to 54,135.
Fatalities:
Four fatalities have been reported in the Region of Murcia in the last 24 hours. The deceased are three men and one woman, aged 78, 75, 72 and 83; three from Murcia and one from Fortuna.
This brings the total number of fatalities to 613.
Hospitalisations:
After a rise in admissions on Tuesday, the number of patients admitted to hospitals in the Region with more severe cases of coronavirus has been reduced by 18 people, to 377. The number of patients hospitalized in ICUs remains stable at 87 patients. The total number of patients in home isolation has fallen by 572, from 4,564 on Monday to 3,992 this Tuesday.
Recoveries: 927 patients formerly diagnosed with coronavirus were given the all-clear on Wednesday, bringing the total of recoveries up to 47,551.
This means that the number of active cases has reduced again and taking into consideration the number of new cases and recoveries, the total fell by 590 patients on Wednesday, taking the active cases down to 4,369. A month ago this figure was over 11,000, so the gradual improvement in the region can be clearly seen from just this one figure.
Yesterday the regional president, Fernando López Miras, appeared in the reginal assembly to report on the evolution of the virus to the reginal parliament and said, “The contagion rate in the Region of Murcia has fallen by 75% in the last month. We are the community that has most reduced its contagions", he said, expressing his hope that by the end of the Bank Holiday on Tuesday when the current restrictions are due to come to an end, that it will not be necessary to continue with the municipal border closures and we may also be able to re-open the interiors of the region’s bars.
Here’s hoping!!!!!
