The National Geographic Institute has reported a seismic tremor measuring 3.2 mbLg on the Alhama faultline, which occurred at 21.52 on Sunday August 1.
The tremor was at a depth of 5km and was felt in a large part of the Region of Murcia, from Caravaca de la Cruz in the north-west to El Algar, Cartagena and Mazarrón on the southern coast, as well as the surrounding municipalities of Murcia, Fuente Álamo, Mazarrón, Totana and Alhama de Murcia.
Calls were also made by members of the public to the 112 emergency services line from Bolnuevo, El Palmar, Los Garres, Isla Plana, Lébor, El Paretón, Puerto de Mazarrón, Corvera, Canteras, El Alamillo and Sucina, among numerous other localities. However, no material damage has been reported.
The epicentre of the tremor was in the Sierra de Carrascoy, close to the town of Librilla.
