5 petrol stations in Spain where you can still get cheap fuel in 2023

Several service stations in Spain are offering discounts of up to 40 cents per litre
On December 31 last year, the Spanish government scrapped the 20 cent per litre fuel discount that was implemented as a crisis measure in April to mitigate the financial impact of the war in Ukraine. Now, only professional drivers in certain sectors are entitled to the petrol and diesel bonus.
Although fuel prices in general have gone down in Spain, most motorists will still be keen to save a euro or two where they can. Luckily, five of the most common filling stations in the country are still offering discounts of up to 40 cents on the litre in 2023.
1. Repsol
Fuel giant Repsol will continue to offer customers a discount of 10 cents per litre, once they use the company’s Waylet app or pay with a Solred card. Drivers who pay with cash or by card will get an automatic discount of 5 cents.
So, to save 15 cents on every litre, motorists need simply download the free Waylet app.
This reduction of 10 cents per litre will be maintained, for the moment, until March 31 and will apply to more than 3,300 filling stations around Spain.
2. Cepsa
Cepsa also joins the campaign with its 'Because you come back' loyalty program with an extra discount of 10 cents. Motorists who fill up from the Optimal range will save an additional 2 cents. The offer is set to last through the first quarter of the year.
3. Galp
Portuguese company Galp, which has 557 service stations in Spain, will also continue its 10 cent per litre bonus during the winter months for customers who use its Mundo Galp app.
Galp also offers discounts of up to 5% if drivers pay with a credit card from ING, Caixabank, EVO or Mapfre.
In addition, new users of the app will benefit from a once-off discount of 25 cents per litre but drivers can also accumulate points to be exchanged for other bonuses and special offers.
4. Shell and Disa
The distributor of Shell in Spain, Disa, will maintain the discount of 10 cents per litre for users of its ‘Mi Energía Disa’ mobile application, until March 31, 2023.
In addition, the Lidl Plus app also offers a 4% discount at Shell service stations, so the bonus for some customers can be as high as 14 cents.
It also offers discounts of up to 5% for drivers who pay with a credit card from ING, Caixabank, EVO or Mapfre.
New users of the app will receive a one-time discount of 25 cents per litre but motorists can continue to accumulate points which can be exchanged for other bonuses and special offers.
BP
Finally, customers who sign up for ‘Mi BP’ will receive discounts of up to 10 cents per litre, and can get additional money off if they refuel with 'Ultimate with Active technology' fuels.
