ARCHIVED - 555 new cases and 2 deaths in the last 24 hours; Murcia coronavirus Saturday 19th
This includes a full list of cases by municipality for the last 7 days
Yesterday the Region of Murcia reported 670 cases of coronavirus, so it’s almost a relief to report a drop in new cases after such a high figure, the total new cases being “just” 555 this Saturday.
This does, however, reflect a drop in the number of PCR tests being carried out, 3,584 compared to 4,220 the day before, as the percentage of positive tests is almost exactly the same at 15%.
On Friday 11th September the region had 5669 active cases; this Friday the figure has risen to 7,097, a rise of 1428 active cases in a week, or 204 a day, taking into consideration the number of cured cases and deaths.
The total number of cases increased from 12,478 to 15,806, an actual increase of the number of cases detected by 3328 in a WEEK.
The numbers of new cases are gradually increasing; whereas last week 300 was starting to become normal, by the end of this week the figures are leaning towards the 5 and 600s; Monday 457, Tuesday 499, Wednesday 370, Thursday 447,Friday 675 and now Saturday 555.
The 555 new positives brings the total number of active cases to 7,427 and the total number of cases since the pandemic began to 16,361.
Of the 555 new cases, 130 correspond to the municipality of Murcia, 85 to Totana, 71 to Lorca, 39 to Cartagena, 29 to Molina de Segura, 28 to Jumilla, 18 to Yecla, 13 to Alcantarilla, 13 to Mazarrón, 11 to Las Torres de Cotillas, 10 to Cieza, 10 to Fortuna, 10 to Torre Pacheco, 7 to Alguazas, 7 to Alhama de Murcia, 7 to Archena, 7 to Caravaca de la Cruz, and 7 to Fuente Álamo. The remainder are distributed amongst various municipalities in smaller quantities.
These figures below relate to FRIDAY, and do not include the figures reported today:
Note, the first figure shown is the actual number of cases diagnosed in the last 7 days, the second is the IA rate for the last 7 days (number of cases per 100,000 of population): In brackets the number of cases is indicated as either a positive or negative compared to the situation on Thursday)

Total 3460 . Acumulated IA rate in the last 7 days: 231
Fatalities:
There have been two new deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours, one male and one female, aged 80 and 85 years of age from Lorca and Cartagena. The fatalities are starting to really rise now; during all of June there were 2 deaths, one in July, 8 in August, but up to the 19th September we have reported 31 so far, including the two today.
Hospitalisations:
The number admitted to hospital has fallen by 5 people, to 312, and the number in ICUs remains stable at 59, more than 50% of the 115 bed ICU capacity of the region, but these figures are no worse than last week, which is good. In fact, the hospitalisations are slightly lower now than they were at the end of last week, but only by a couple of cases.
In the last 24 hours, 223 have moved from “active cases” to “cured”, bringing this total up to 7,037.
If you have symptoms compatible with Covid-19 (fever, dry cough, tiredness) or you have suspicions that you may have covid, then call 900 121 212; do NOT go to the health centre as many of these are only scheduling PCR tests by prior appointment.
