One of the deceased today was ony 38 years of age.
On Friday 16th October the Murcia Region had reported a total of 27,381 cases. On Friday 23rd October the reported figure was 31,378, so this is a rise in the total number of cases of 3,997 in the last 7 days.

Murcian Government promises “much harder restrictions next week”
On Sunday the national cabinet will be holding an extraordinary session as 11 regions have now requested that the Government declare a state of emergency. At the moment, Murcia is not amongst them as it is governed by the PP in spite of the fact that the regional president has been extremely vocal in calling on the Prime Minister to give the autonomous communities mechanisms by which they can impose harsher restrictions, which must, he has said repeatedly, be the same for the whole country. Unfortunately, this is politics in Spain, and the regional premier is probably acting on the orders of the national PP executive as none of the PP regional governments have requested a state of emergency, even though, as is very obvious in Murcia, stricter measures are needed. Obviously the thoughts of some politicians are undoubtedly on the next national elections and the “blame games” which will follow this second wave of covid and the economic crisis which undoubtedly lies beyond it.
The Prime Minister does not need the agreement of the PP to impose a state of emergency for a maximum of 15 days, but will need its agreement to extend the SOE further should it be necessary.
