The 24th annual Feria de Minerales y Fósiles in La Unión

The municipality of La Unión has a long tradition of activity associated with mining, the mines in the Sierra Minera dating back over 2,000 years, and every year the town holds a minerals and fossils fair over the Easter break.

This year the fair takes place between 9^th and 11^th April and once again the event is one of the three most important of its kind in Spain (the other two being in Madrid and Barcelona). This year there are 39 exhibitors with items on sale and display from all over the world, including some of the oldest minerals on the planet from Australia, South Africa and Canada, and as many as 15,000 visitors are expected.

A great variety of minerals, meteorites and fossils are offered for sale, all of which are a very high quality, with plenty of choice for collectors to purchase and the curious to admire. 

Opening times are from 10.00 to 14.00 and from 17.00 to 21.00 and, as in previous years, the venue is the Antiguo Mercado Público. Admission is free of charge.

There is plenty of parking for the public marketplace in la Unión just across the railway track, and in the car park for the Parque Minero mining museum.
