Accommodation in Jumilla: The Olive Tree Country Guest House

Accommodation in Jumilla: The Olive Tree Country Guest House

An English-owned retreat with swimming pool near Pinoso and the Sierra de la Pila

The Olive Tree Country Guest House is a peaceful, tranquil, homely country property located in the countryside between Jumilla, Fortuna and Pinoso (the latter in the province of Alicante), and is closest to the village of Cañada del Trigo (about a kilometre away).

Run by English-speaking owners, the Olive Tree has six en-suite bedrooms, including a self-catering suite (2 double bedrooms, sitting room, large bathroom and kitchenette - sleeps 4 plus 1), and a family room (sleeping 4), a courtyard and an attractive freeform swimming pool with a swim-up bar. There is also central heating for those visiting in the winter months, as well as a large wood-burning fireplace in the cosy snug.

The whole property, sleeping 18, can be rented for large group visits, and for those of limited mobility there is wheelchair access to all areas and a specially adapted bedroom and bathroom.

Although this is very much a rural location, with views towards the mountains of Sierra de la Pila in the south of Jumilla, the nearby towns and villages have a variety of bars, restaurants, banks, pharmacies and shops, and the Olive Tree also offers a “walkers’ package”, suitable for both individuals and groups – this includes accommodation, guided walks, minibus transport and packed lunches.

The minibus is also ideal for those visiting from abroad and not wanting to hire a car: Alicante, San Javier and Corvera airports are all under an hour’s drive away, and the staff at the Olive Tree are happy to collect guests on arrival and deliver them back to the airport for the trip home.

Full in-house catering is also available, with both indoor and outdoor dining areas, and the Olive Tree is happy to host special occasions such as wedding receptions.

How to find the Olive Tree Guest House

The Olive Tree Guest House is on the RM-A10 road which runs from the A-33 motorway (about halfway between Murcia and Jumilla) to the RM-422, which leads to Pinoso after becoming the CV-836 on entering the province of Alicante.

If approaching from Murcia, the quickest route by car is to take the motorway exit at km 559 of the A-30 (signposted Fortuna) and head north before joining the RM-422. Then take the turn-off to the left which is signposted Cañada del Trigo and Casas del Puerto: the guest house is signposted on the right after a couple of kilometres. (see map)
