23rd July Cookery workshop in Los Alcázares: Taller de Caldero y Paparajotes

GASTRO WORKSHOPS AND GUIDED VISITS – two different guided visits which allow you to get to know the gastronomy, history, culture and artisanship of the Los Alcázares municipality alongside the Mar Menor, and mostly to enjoy the typical local culinary delights. All commentary is in Spanish.

23rd July, 13th August

Cookery workshops and tastings of the most typical dish of the Mar Menor, the fish, rice and garlic mayonnaise speciality of “caldero”. Anyone aged over 12 is welcome to don their apron and come and learn from the professionals, and the menu is rounded off by another Murcia favourite for dessert: “paparajotes”, or lemon leaves coated in sugary batter.

The workshops are held from 19.00 to 21.00 at the CAR Infanta Cristina in Los Alcázares, and registration is just 5 euros.

Normally places for these events are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If all of the places have been filled the date will disappear from the booking system. If in doubt, or if you are experiencing difficulties in booking, then please contact the tourist office in Los Alcázares.

11th and 18th August

“Tierra, Mar y Aire” guided tours of the Mar Menor, featuring the sky in which military aircraft have flown over the lagoon for decades, the land from which the thermal water of the Balneario de la Encarnación bathing station emerges and of course the sea itself, over which the Balneario San Antonio stands.

The tours start at the Museo Aeronáutico in Los Alcázares at 9.00, and end at 13.00 with a tasting of some of the most typical dishes of the Mar Menor.

Tickets are 5 euros each and prior reservation is required as places are limited. Please note that all commentary is in Spanish.
