ARCHIVED - 489 new cases of coronavirus and 2 fatalities; Region of Murcia 7th October
ARCHIVED ARTICLE The number of patients in intensive care decreased by 12.
Exactly the same as occurred last week, the Wednesday figure of new coronavirus cases in the Region of Murcia is considerably higher than that published for Tuesday; yesterday the Murcian Health Authority published a figure of “only” 289 new cases, but today the figure has risen once again to 489.
Last week just 197 cases were reported on Tuesday, but the figure returned to above 300 on Wednesday with 352 cases.
Of the 489 new cases, 119 correspond to the municipality of Murcia, 83 to Lorca, 35 to Cartagena, 28 to Totana, 21 to Jumilla, 17 to Molina de Segura, 16 to Águilas, 14 to Abanilla, 14 to Fortuna, 14 to Torre Pacheco, 12 to Alcantarilla, 11 to Archena, 11 to Las Torres de Cotillas, 10 to Cieza, 10 to Yecla, 9 to San Javier, 8 to Mula, 7 to Alhama de Murcia, 7 to Caravaca de la Cruz, and 6 to Puerto Lumbreras. The remainder are distributed across the region in smaller quantities.

Fatalities
Two fatalities have been reported on Wednesday; a 69 year-old male from Molina de Segura and a 78 year old male from Totana, taking the overall total up to 224. Yesterday was the first day on which no fatalities were reported for nearly a month.
Hospitalisations:12 patients have left the intensive care unit in the last 24 hours (unfortunately, two of them the fatalities above) but this still leaves 10 moving back down to the general ward, so the number of UCI patients is now back down to 66.
The total number hospitalised is now 363.
A further 8,186 patients are in domestic isolation, bringing the total number of active cases up to 8,549.
Recoveries:
389 patients were given the all-clear in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries up to 13,134.
IA rate
The accumulated incidence rate showig number of cases per 100,00 of population incresed again to 193 across the region.
The graphic below shows the municipalities with the highest rates per head of population; Totana is the highest with an IA rate of 909, followed by Fortuna with 652, Abanilla with 538, Lorca with 534 and Jumilla with 375.
