ARCHIVED - First day without covid deaths in Murcia region for nearly a month
The number of hospitalisations however, has increased
The slowdown in the number of new cases of coronavirus in the Region of Marcia which started last week appears to be continuing on Tuesday, with the confirmation of “only” 289 new cases during the last 24 hours.
Although this is still high, it is lower than the 387 reported yesterday, but it must be pointed out that last Tuesday the figures were also low, with only 197 new cases, a figure which increased significantly for the remainder of the week to average around 400 cases a day.
However, there is one good piece of news and that is the lack of fatalities this Tuesday, which is the first day since the 10th August on which there has not been a fatality in the Murcia region. So the fatalities remain at 222.
The 289 new cases are distributed around the region, although the same few names appear at the top of the list. It is interesting today to see an increase in cases around the Mar Menor all of a sudden, with all of the Mar Menor municipalities appearing in the top 10. The main new cases are as follows; 89 correspond to the municipality of Murcia, 50 to Lorca, 30 to Cartagena, 28 to Totana, 16 to San Javier, 10 to Alcantarilla, 10 to San Pedro del Pinatar, 7 to Los Alcázares, 7 to Alhama de Murcia, 7 to Torre Pacheco , and 5 to Águilas.
By municipality on Tuesday: Note, the first figure shown is the actual number of cases diagnosed in the last 7 days, the second is the IA rate for the last 7 days (number of cases per 100,000 of population): In brackets the number of cases is indicated as either a positive or negative compared to the situation on Monday when this breakdown was last published, taking into consideration that patients are recovering and being removed from the list all the time)
Abanilla 22/359 (0) ( This means 22 cases in the last week and an IA rate of 359, so way above average, with no new cases since the last figures were published)

Total 2773 . Acumulated IA rate in the last 7 days: 185
Hospitalisations:
The downside of the figures is the large increase in hospitalisations during the last 24 hours, with the serious covid case admissions rising from 332 to 376 in one day. This is obviously serious, but is not as serious as it may appear as 40 of the 44 cases correspond to the outbreak in the Virgen del Alcázar private hospital in Lorca, and the patients concerned are all in the hospital itself.
Six patients have also moved to intensive care, raising that total from 72 to 78 in the last 24 hours.
Patients with mild symptoms are self-isolating at home, with a total of 8,075 mild cases.
Within the last 24 hours, 268 patients have been given the all-clear, bringing the total number of recoveries up to 12.745. Only patients who have been PCR tested are included in the recoveries figures, and this total has itself risen to 264.154 PCR tests taken since the pandemic began, of which 21,418 gave a positive result.
During the last 24 hours a further 2,603 PCR tests have been taken in the region, giving a positive rate of 11.10%.
As the number of new cases is higher than the total recoveries, the overall number of positive cases has increased today, to 8,421 active cases.
