ARCHIVED ARTICLE
Hospitalisation and ICU admissions remain stable in the Region of Murcia
The Region of Murcia continues to beat the coronavirus pandemic into submission, and the cumulative incidence rate, a vital indicator of how the health crisis is evolving, has dropped by almost 146 points in one short week. Sadly, a further five fatalities have been registered but hospital admissions remain stable with a very slight decline.
Coronavirus infections
The regional health authorities in Murcia registered 1,326 new coronavirus infections in the last seven days, 266 of which were diagnosed on Monday June 13 alone. This, however, is a slight decrease compared to the same day last week, when 284 cases were reported.
This brings to 432,251 the total number of infections registered in the Region of Murcia since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.
Of the total cases, 70,512 have occurred in people over the age of 60.
Cumulative incidence rate
The 14-day incidence rate continues its steady decline and has dropped to 405.12 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, compared to 551.10 just a week ago.
Moreover, the average incidence at seven days now stands at just 181.07 cases; this is much less than 50% of the 14-day rate, an excellent indication that daily infections will continue to fall.
Hospitalisations and fatalities
There are currently 183 people hospitalised for Covid in Murcia, two fewer than in the last update. Of these, seven patients are being treated for more serious conditions in the Region’s ICUs, one less than on the same day last week.
Five more Covid-related fatalities were reported on Monday, bringing the overall death toll since the start of the health crisis to 2,331.
Covid testing
In the last week, 2,989,676 PCR and antigen diagnostic tests have been carried out in the Murcia Region.
Vaccination data
Since the last update, 91.93% of the entire population of the Murcia Region has had a least one dose. In addition, 84.67% of people are now double jabbed.
