ARCHIVED - Passengers at Corvera airport welcomed by coronavirus advisory posters
ARCHIVED ARTICLE
Flights at Corvera remain unaffected by cancellations related to the epidemic
Aena, the management company at the Region of Murcia International Airport in Corvera and at almost all other airports throughout Spain, reports that as yet there is no disruption to services at the Costa Cálida airport due to there currently being no flights scheduled to and from areas with high coronavirus incidence rates, but at the same time is ensuring that all passengers are reminded of the recommendations designed to protect them from the spread of the infection.
At present the only regular services at Corvera are between the Costa Cálida and the UK, Ireland, Belgium and the Canary Islands, although at the end of March the summer schedules come into operation and additional routes including the one to and from Barcelona will begin. In the meantime, posters reminding passengers of the recommendations issued by the Ministry of Health, including those regarding frequent hand washing, have been displayed prominently and continency plans have been drawn up in order to deal with any emergencies which might arise related to the epidemic.

Elsewhere, of course, airlines such as Ryanair have announced reductions in the number of flights to and from Italy and other high-risk areas, while throughout the sector the probable reduction in the demand for air travel this year is being viewed with differing degrees of trepidation.
At the same time, daily cleaning and disinfection work at Spanish airports is being intensified, and Aena report that at least one employee at the central offices in Madrid has tested positive for Covid-19.
Recommendations for those arriving in the Murcia Region:
What to do if you are in the Murcia Region and believe you may have contracted the virus:
The regional government has set up a special helpline to supply information to members of the public (900 121212), and also urges people to call the 112 emergency services line if they suspect that they may have contracted the virus rather than going straight to hospital or to a medical centre. Medical staff will be sent to your home to test for the virus.
The Region’s public hospitals have limited the number of visitors to patients in the region's hospitals to just one visitor per patient.
Sensible precautions
The advice being issued to members of the public by medical authorities all over the world coincides on the following points:
- Wash hands frequently with either soap and water of a sanitiser gel
- Catch coughs and sneezes with disposable tissues – and throw the tissues away immediately after use before immediately washing your hands!
- If you don’t have a tissue, use your sleeve – and wash the item of clothing used at the next opportunity
- AVOID touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
- AVOID close contact with people who are unwell
6. Don´t panic.
- Do not visit areas where high incidence rates of coronavirus are reported.
