Click HereStarting on July 1, the Plan Copla for the Region of Murcia sees beaches flying green flags as the Aguileña coast gets ready for an increase in beachgoers and sea swimmers.
All lifeguards have been readied and provided withthe necessary resources, plus a few extras, to cover the 14 monitored beaches of the Aguileña coast:
Calabardina
El Hornillo
Delicias I and Delicias II
Levante
La Colonia
Poniente I and Poniente II
Casica Verde
Matalentisco
La Cabaña
Calarreona
La Higuerica
La Carolina
“From June 1 until August 31, this Plan [means we will have] surveillance and rescue presence on [these] beaches from 11 am to 8 pm,” a spokesperson said.
With the aim of providing safety and reassurance to those attending the beaches this year, the spokesperson stated: “50 beach lifeguards and three coordinators [have been] distributed on the 14 beaches.”
The Plan also includes an all-terrain vehicle to provide surveillance and first aid on those beaches without a fixed surveillance post within the municipality of Águilas.
In a coordinated effort from the Municipal Civil Protection and Emergency Service of the Águilas City Council and the Local Police, Guardia Civil, 061 and the Fire Extinction and Rescue Consortium, all beaches have external defibrillators with all staff trained to use them.
There are also three rescue boats plus a fourth reserve, which are responsible for covering the entire coast of Águilas.
Along with the rescue boats, defibrillators and all-terrain vehicle, the Plan has also provided:
2 Off-road vehicles
1 Transport vehicle
3 Motorcycles
4 Kayak
2 Rapid intervention vehicles
All beach posts are equipped with a treatment room, oxygen therapy, intervention kit, stretcher, megaphone, binoculars, safety equipment, rescue equipment and immobilisation equipment.
This year, as in the previous one, special attention is being paid to the occupational safety of professionals and beach users due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
