Camposol D Community and Gardening Group update
The Camposol D Community and Gardening Group has some good news and some not so good news
Making a difference (The group motto)
Camposol D Community and Gardening Group are very pleased to see Mazarrón Council's new parks and gardens maintenance contractor, STV Gestión, begin the work on the Sector D stretch of Avenida de los Covachos dual carriageway. The 4-year contract is to maintain the central reservation on Avenida de los Covachos and the roundabouts and traffic islands on the public roads. This includes pruning of the palms, weed spraying and edging and strimming.
The work carried out so far is to a high standard and hopefully this will be maintained throughout the contract. Work is carried out every 3 months with the exception of treatment for processionary caterpillars and palm weevil infestation. If you spot any infestation, please contact the local Councillor.
Not making a difference
Not so great is the amount of rubbish that the group’s volunteer gardening teams are having to remove before work can commence. One team recently spent all morning just clearing up rubbish, whilst the other team cleaned up the refuse bin area on Calle Nogales, next to the green waste site. Only to find that rubbish was tipped there the next day. You will see from the photographs below the amount of rubbish that was cleared.
The common view is that the rubbish is being dumped by contractors. Not so; whilst some rubbish is being dumped illegally by contractors, most of the fly tipping is actually residential waste. So an appeal to all residents on Sector D to follow three easy steps to assist the work of the gardening teams:
One. Please use the bins and containers to put your waste and if full use the other household waste sites. Do not dump your waste beside the bins. If the items still have some use left in them, such as furniture, clothes etc., consider donating them to a charity.
Two. The Council's refuse collection contractor has designated two dates each month for residents to place large and bulky waste items beside the bin areas for collection. The dates are 1st and 16th of each month, with items put out the night before. Please, don't put out these items on any other dates. You can also request a collection of bulky items directly from your home as follows:
A request for the removal of furniture or appliances from home addresses can be made through Línea Verde, first you have to register which can be done by following the instructions on this link:
Then to request collection click on “Recogida de muebles y enseres” on this link: After logging in, the first box “Categorías” has a drop down list, click on “AVISOS”, in the second box “Tipo de incidencia” click on “Recogida de muebles y enseres” in the “Comentario” box type “I have (what ever the item is) to be collected.” (it can be in English). There is no need to attach Fotografías. In the last box “Buscar una dirección” enter the full address where the item is to be collected from. The address must have the name of the Calle and Plot or House number, then click on “ENVIAR INCIDENCIA”. The report will be acknowledged by email to the email address entered when registering on the Línea Verde app. Details are also available on the Camposol 2025 Facebook page.
Three. Please take pride in your local area. There are many residents who regularly sweep up the areas near their villas. To them the group says 'Thank you'. It only takes a few moments to go out and sweep your streets, perhaps weed the footpaths or generally tidy up. Sector D and your Polígono will be the better for it.
To quote the President and committee for Sector D Community and Gardening Group.
"Making a difference can only be achieved by everyone on sector D working together, not just by the committee, gardening teams and other informal volunteers. You too can make a difference, please play your part by looking after your street, poligono, verges etc. Think of the difference it would make if you brushed up or litter pick your area once a month. Join the D-team and make a difference."

Making a better environment on Camposol D
The Camposol D Community and Gardening Group was originally formed in March 2009 by the residents of D sector to improve and provide a better environment for the residents and visitors to the Community of ‘D Sector’.
Membership of the group soon gathered pace and it was necessary to provide a way to communicate what was happening within the Camposol D Community and Gardening group, so that the members, volunteers and residents were made aware of what was happening within the Community (not all members live here permanently).
Social events
Each year a range of events are provided for residents such as the D Street Party, one of the largest events on Camposol with over 150 residents from all sectors attending and The Summer Ball, the most popular events on the D group’s calendar. Not forgetting the Carol service to provide that festive feel to D Sector
Improvement and Maintenance
Throughout the past years there have been many projects completed, this is thanks to the volunteers and generosity of the public donations that have been provided to the group (all work is funded by donations, without this support they could not fund any of the work).
The Group meet every Monday, Wednesday and Sunday for a few hours to carry out gardening, weeding or any projects necessary.
The Monday team maintains the verges and garden areas along Calle Esparraguera and Frangulas.
The Wednesday team responsible for the upkeep of the Memorial garden, Cross and gateway areas at the entrance to D, the Lone garden and Petanca area at the bottom of Calle Piteras.
The Sunday team is the first of the local team to be established and maintain the verges at the top of Avenida de los Covachos. It is planned to launch more local groups going forward.
Due to the high temperatures of the summer months, there is no gardening activity as such, but they have established 2 watering teams to help maintain the planted areas around D Sector. As with everything they do, the achievements are subject to available volunteers on the day, and are constantly trying to recruit more people to assist.
The group is free to join and is open to any home owner who is resident or non resident of Camposol D Sector, or any long term property renter on D sector. Application to join is via the website. Members, whether resident or not, can ask for projects to be completed via the 'project request' form on the website. All D Sector events are open to anyone on any sector of Camposol.
Funding
The prime source of funding is through the weekly bucket collection at the D group hut at the boundary between C and D sector. The bucket collection is open from 9.30 to 11.00 am each Friday. Once a month a bucket collection is held to fund projects, again at the D hut from 9.00 to 10.30 am.
