1,704 new infections in the region's three provinces, including Alicante
The Valencia region's Ministry of Health has confirmed 1,704 new Covid cases, significantly lower than the 3,193 diagnosis registered on Monday, but sadly nine deaths have been reported.
This is the lowest number of infections reported in a week, and is coupled with a slight drop in the region's incident rate, which now stands at 569 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, below the national average of 654, and that of Andalucia (594) and Madrid (742), but higher than the neighbouring Region of Murcia, which has a rate of 473.
New cases: 1,704 new cases of coronavirus confirmed by PCR or antigen testing, (down from 3,193 on Monday) bringing the total number of positives to 470,138 people. By provinces: 768 in Alicante, down from 1,272 (168,283 in total); 765 in Valencia (253,224 in total); and 171 in Castellón (48,629 in total).
Hospitals: There are currently 682 Covid patients being treated in Valencian hospitals (down from 731), of whom 111 are in ICU (two less than on Monday): 187 in the province of Alicante, 27 in ICU; 416 in Valencia, 68 in ICU; and 79 in Castellón, 16 in ICU.
Recoveries: 2,859 people have recovered since the last update, meaning 445,181 people have been given the all-clear since the start of the pandemic: 158,912 in Alicante; 240,031 in Valencia; and 46,179 in Castellón.
Fatalities: There have been nine reported deaths in the last seven days - up from nine on Monday, meaning the total now stands at 7,511: 2,859 in Alicante; 3,838 in Valencia; and 814 in Castellón.
Active cases: There are currently 28,907 active cases, which represent 6 per cent of the total positives.
Vaccinations: A total of 3,307,150 people have received at least one dose and 2,705,871 are fully immunised. By provinces: 972,412 in Alicante; 1,412,453 in Valencia; and 321,006 in Castellón.
Outbreaks: Of the recorded outbreaks in the region, only one has 10 or more associated cases; Fuente la Reina with 12 cases of social origin.
