The Town Hall of Alhama de Murcia is doing its best to foster a positive community spirit among residents and to help while away the days while they are confined to their homes during the coronavirus crisis, and has launched a series of activities through its social media accounts in which everyone is invited to take part.
Most of these activities will inevitably be in Spanish but non-Spaniards may be interested in the fitness sessions which are to be held every weekday afternoon, offering zumba, pilates, body fitness and gymnastics exercises at 18.00 from Monday to Friday.
Also starting on Tuesday 24th March are “El reto del día” (The challenge of the day”) every day at 10.00 and “Un ratito más HOME” at 16.30 for children, and on top of these the Town Hall is making it possible to download books and films from the municipal library in its “La Biblioteca en Casa” scheme.
Various competitions are envisaged to encourage residents to pit their creativity against one another, the aim being to keep people occupied during the lockdown, which is to last at least another three weeks following the national government’s decision to extend it until 11th April.
