The bus or coach services linking the new Region of Murcia International Airport in Corvera to the coastal towns and golf resorts of the Costa Cálida are being operated by Interbus, who guarantee affordable onward public transport for those arriving at the terminal and heading for the most popular destinations among international visitors to the Region.
Covid safe travel:
Four bus services are in operation, linking Corvera airport with the central bus station of the city of Murcia.
3. Murcia city bus station to Corvera airport
Firstly, anyone who is worried that a delayed flight could cause them to miss the departure of their bus can rest assured that this will not happen. Buses are scheduled to leave from Corvera after the morning and afternoon incoming flights arrive, and the drivers have a list of all passengers booked to travel with them.
They are informed by an Interbus rep inside the terminal of any delays, and wait for passengers with prior bookings. Only if a significant delay occurs will the coach leave without a passenger, and in those cases an alternative service is laid on by Interbus.
In addition, to save time and costs, coaches do not necessarily call at all the stops on any given route. To call in at golf resorts and other stops requires a detour and adds to journey times, and these stops are not included if no passengers are booked to be picked up or dropped off there (although those walking on without prior bookings and paying the driver at the airport will of course be delivered to their preferred destination).
These conditions mean that advance bookings are very strongly recommended indeed. These can be made online and, to be on the safe side, users are advised to reserve their trips at least 24 hours in advance. Tickets can be bought by walk-on passengers from the Interbus rep in the terminal or the driver, but due to the conditions mentioned above this is not advised.
Bookings can also be made by telephone on 968 291911 and 968 291926, but unfortunately there is no guarantee that you will be understood in English!
HOW TO PURCHASE TICKETS ONLINE
To purchase tickets, simply go to www.interbus.es and after a very short wait a panel should appear inviting you to type in your preferred route. Depending on the direction of your journey, type “air” into either “Origen” or “Destino” (starting point or destination), and the airport of Murcia is suggested as the most appropriate option: click to accept it.
Now fill in the other end of your journey by clicking on the empty “origen” or “destino” box and a list of possibilities appears: select the right one and click.
Now choose whether your journey is one-way (“Sólo ida”) or return (“Ida y vuelta”): there is also a “vuelta abierta” option which allows passengers to keep the date of their return journey open.
The next step is to select the dates of your journey: click on the “ida” and “vuelta” boxes below and use the calendar to choose the dates, and then select how many passengers are travelling using the “+” or “-“ options alongside “Número de pasajeros”.
With all the details are completed, click the “Buscar” button and the available services appear on screen. Select first the desired outward trip, and then the return, and when both have been chosen the cumulative total price shows at the bottom right of the screen. If correct, press “continuar”, select any of the extras required (pets or sports equipment), press “continuar” again, and the final stage of booking begins.
This consists of entering your name (Nombre), surname (Apellidos) email address (Correo electrónico), post code (Código postal) and country of residence (País), accepting the terms and conditions by clicking the box with red text alongside it, and selecting PayPal or Visa as the method of payment. This last step takes you to the payment page, where standard details are required (in the case of Visa, card number, expiry date and the 3-digit security code).
