ARCHIVED - Covid restrictions: Mazarron and Torre Pacheco join the list of towns on alert level 3 for Covid
ARCHIVED ARTICLE
These are the new Covid-19 restrictions for the eight towns in Murcia at ‘high risk’
Mazarrón, Torre Pacheco, Fuente Álamo, Cehegín and La Unión have all been added to the ‘alert level 3’ or ‘high risk alert’ list this week because they have a cumulative incidence rate of over 75 cases per 100,000 people in the last 7 days or 150 per 100,000 in the last 14 days.
This means the Covid restrictions now in place for these towns are as follows:
Alcohol may not be sold between 10pm and 6am
No smoking on public streets when the minimum safety distance of 2 metres cannot be observed
50% capacity inside hotels, restaurants, shops, theatres, cinemas, auditoriums and libraries and 100% capacity outside
No standing while drinking at the bar in hotels, restaurants, etc.
Obligatory use of facemasks when not drinking or eating
Capacity for wedding celebrations and similar events is 30% inside the premises with a maximum of 30 people and 50% outside with a maximum of 60 people
Two people can travel in a vehicle per row of seats
While these are the current guidelines for alert level (red alert), the national government is considering changing the traffic light system and raising the bar above whiche a municipality moves to the next level.
Currently, Mazarrón has the dubious honour of topping the list with 234 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, figures which cast the shadow of a dreaded sixth wave as we approach Christmas despite the continuing and highly successful vaccination campaign.
However, while nearly 90% of Murcians have been vaccinated, 84% of those who are hospitalised with Covid have not had any vaccinations. For this reason, everyone is strongly urged to get the vaccine as soon as possible.
Correction (17/11/2021): It was originally reported that up to 6 people could sit at a table indoors and up to 10 outside, but there is no indication of any limit to the number of people who can sit at a table. This article also previously stated that there was a 30% capacity limit inside hotels, restaurants and shops, whereas this is really 50%. Finally, it was reported that there was to be no drinking at the bar, but this should read no standing while drinking at the bar.
