Spain is experiencing a generalised heatwave again for the next couple of days, with much of the country on yellow alert for up to 39 degrees, some areas on orange and even a couple on red, which is very dangerous.
Friday:
Murcia misses the major heat on Friday, although virtually all of Spain, with the exception of Asturias, Cantabria, Murcia and the islands are on either yellow or orange alert for high temperatures.
The significant risk areas with orange alerts are Córdoba, Granada, Jaén, Huesca, Zaragoza, Ávila, Ciudad Real, Toledo, Lérida, Madrid, Cáceres, Badajoz, Navarra and La Rioja, where temperatures will be between 37 and 40 degrees Celsius.
AEMET has activated yellow alerts for Seville, Teruel, Cantabria, Burgos, León, Palencia, Salamanca, Segovia, Soria, Valladolid, Zamora, Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Guadalajara, Barcelona, Gerona, Lleida and Tarragona, Orense, Álava, Vizcaya, Guipúzcoa and the Comunidad Valenciana, where temperatures will reach between 37 and 39ºC.
In the Murcia Region we can expect clear skies and plenty of sun, with th possibility of storms in the northwest of the region later in the day. Little change in the way of minuimum temeratures, but maximums are climbing ahead of the weekend when the region moves onto alert status. Winds are easterlies, so stronger on the coast and weak in the interior of the region.
Maximum temperatures as follows: Murcia City and the Segura River valley, 37 in the far north and Yecla, 36 in the north-west, with Caravaca in the centre at 37, 36 in Lorca and the south-west and 31 in Cartagena and around the Mar Menor.
Minimum temperatures; Murcia City and the Segura River valley, 20 in the far north and Yecla, 17 in the north-west, with Caravaca in the centre at 18, 19 in Lorca and the south-west and 23 in Cartagena and around the Mar Menor.

Saturday
The State Meteorological Agency Aemet has issued yellow level warnings for Saturday for temperatures of up to 37-39 degrees in the Northwest(Bullas, Caravaca, Cehegín, Mula, Moratalla, Calasparra), Altiplano (Yecla and Jumilla), Vega del Segura, which covers Cieza, and all of the SEgura river Valley and the Guadalentin Valley which runs from Puerto Lumbreras all the way across to Alhama, taking in Lorca, Águila, Mazarrón etc en route. The only area not on heat alert is Cartagena and the Mar Menor which will remain in the low 30's.
Sunday:

On Sunday temperatures will rise even higher, so the agency has raised its warning level for orange which indicates temperatures can reach 40 degrees in the Vega del Segura, lthough at the moment everywhere else except Cartagena and the Mar Menor will remain on yellow alert.
This may of course, change and should the warning be extended, then this info will be updated accordingly.
Stay hydrated (drinking water frequently without waiting to be thirsty and avoiding alcoholic beverages, coffee or tea); avoid intense physical activities in the middle of the day and stay in cool or shady places and watch out for the most vulnerable (young children, the elderly and the chronically ill).
