ICUs in the Murcia Region have also emptied drastically in the last five days
A few days have made all the difference in the Region of Murcia and the coronavirus pandemic data has shown a dramatic improvement in the latest update published by the health authorities on Monday August 22.
ICU occupation appeared for stagnate for a couple of weeks even though the other indicators were steadily declining, but in the space of just a few days critically ill patients have plummeted from 12 to just eight.
Coronavirus infections
The Region of Murcia has registered a total of 560 cases of coronavirus since the last update on Thursday, 147 of which were reported on Monday August 22, which brings the overall number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic to 453,160.
Of the total cases, 82,394 have been diagnosed in people over the age of 60.
Cumulative incidence rate
The latest data provided by the regional health authorities on Monday show that the 7-day cumulative incidence rate has dropped even further to stand at 114.92 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
The average incidence over a two-week period also reflects this slowdown, decreasing once more from 320.38 cases last week to 280.75 today.
There has been a significant drop of 63.5% in hospital pressure in last few days: There are currently 74 people hospitalised for Covid in Murcia, compared to 203 in the last update. Furthermore, the number of people being treated for more serious conditions in the Region’s ICUs has also decreased, from 12 patients to eight.
Seven more Covid-related fatalities have been registered, bringing the overall death toll since the start of the health crisis to 2,409.
Covid testing
The Region of Murcia has carried out 3,119,909 PCR and antigen coronavirus detection tests.
Vaccination data
Since the last update, 91.83% of the entire population of the Murcia Region has had a least one dose. In addition, 84.85% of people are now double jabbed.
