Gardens of the Purísima in Mazarrón.

The Jardín de la Purísima is an open public garden located in the heart of residential Mazarrón and is a hub of daily life for residents in the town.

It´s main function is to provide a green recreational space for daily use, many of the residents within the town living in apartments and lacking gardens, so as well as substantial planting offering plenty of shade, the gardens also have a play area for children.

There are several shops and hotels around the outside of the square and useful parking for the public Plaza de Abastos, or covered marketplace, which is on the opposite side of the main Avenida de la Constitución, but lacks its own parking.

The Jardín de la Purísima is also the centre of various public and cultural acts, the most popular being as a stopping point for the Romería del Milagro, in which the Virgen de la Purísima after which the gardens are named, stops here in the Gardens after making her journey from Bolnuevo to Mazarrón.

Following the official reception by the Mayor and Councillors, she continues on to her sanctuary for the duration of the Fiestas in the Iglesia de la Purísima nearby.
