This collaboration between French singer, guitarist and actress Roxane Arnal and her compatriot, the jazz pianist Baptiste Bailly, along with three more fantastic musicians, brings us first level folk blues with flashes of jazz. There are echoes here of the sounds of artists such as Eva Cassidy and Norah Jones, as Roxane’s compositions, guitar skills, voice and delicate appearance combine to show great musical maturity and poetic expressiveness, as in her beautiful albums “Doorways” (2020) and “Elior” (2022).
Baptiste Bailly is a great jazz pianist in his own right and his voice blends perfectly with Roxane's.
THE WATERBOYS
It may be nearly 40 years since the Waterboys released “Whole of the Moon” and the album on “Fishermen’s Blues”, but the British folk-rock band are still going strong, and Mile Scott and co are back in San Javier, having opened the 2019 edition of the Jazz Festival with a selection of songs from the album “Where the action is”.
This time round they present a selection of favourites from albums past and an update in the form of songs from “All Souls Hill”, released last year.
The penultimate concert in the 2023 San Javier Jazz Festival begins at 22.00 in the open-air Auditorio Municipal in Parque Almansa with tickets priced at 35 euros. Season tickets are also available: for bookings and further information click here.
