The Policía Local in Lorca have destroyed 3,500 alcoholic drinks which were confiscated after a series of inspections at 24/7 shops in the municipality, during which it was found that the regulations referring to the sale of alcoholic beverages were not being complied with.
Having rounded up their haul of beer, whisky, vodka, gin and other beverages the police took them all to the waste management plant in Barranco Hondo and ensured that they were properly disposed of.
Among the rules which were not being obeyed are a ban on displaying alcohol in the shop windows of these establishments or in other locations where they are easily visible from outside and the obligation to display them separately from other products sold. In addition, the local law states that the drinks should not be sold between 22.00 and 8.00.
