ARCHIVED - Lorca unveils its virtual Christmas Advent Calendar
ARCHIVED ARTICLE -
Each day participants will be challenged to a unique activity around Lorca
For the first time ever, Lorca has created an Advent Calendar that will challenge residents to participate in different local activities for the chance to win a huge array of exciting prizes. The virtual calendar, which is available on all electronic devices, will also offer users interesting snippets of information on the municipality’s history and tourism culture, as well as the more commercial, artisan and gastronomic side of the city.
The initiative was launched on December 2 and will run until Christmas Eve.
Each day at midnight, another ‘window’ of the Lorca Advent Calendar will be opened and participants will have until 8pm that same day to visit the local attraction specified. All of the spots are geolocated, making them easier to find.
The mayor of Tourism, Francisco Morales, explained that “as in the already traditional advent calendars, each day a window will open that houses a small reward that will be awarded in the form of a raffle with one or more prizes among all the participants who have carried out the proposed activity and completed it. With this initiative, we intend to propose activities at a time as special as Christmas, in turn promoting tourism in our town and promoting the local economy, shopping and consumption in local businesses, making our rich heritage.”
The different raffles will offer winners guided and dramatised tours, tickets to museums, small gifts and even money vouchers to be exchanged in participating businesses. And once the final activity has been completed, all of the previous winners will be entered into another draw for the grand prize.
The initiative is supported with the hashtag #AdvientoDisfrutaEnLorca and through its own Telegram channel named “Adviento Disfruta en Lorca” where more information is available.
“We encourage everyone to participate in this fun, dynamic activity that invites you to discover the most interesting places in our municipality and encourages you to buy and consume in Lorca in a unique and ingenious way. Access to participate in the contest will be through the web pages: www.lorca.es, www.economia.lorca.es and www.lorcatallerdeltiempo.es”, Mr Morales concluded.
