Mamma Mia in Puerto de Mazarrón, authentic Italian cuisine in the marina
Great views and mouth-watering pizzas, pasta and traditional meat and fish dishes in Puerto de Mazarrón
Since opening in the main marina of Puerto de Mazarrón in 2012 Mamma Mia has gained an excellent reputation on account of its prime location, its affordable prices and, above all, the quality of the traditional Italian cuisine on offer.
Pasta and pizzas are the main specialities – the open-to-view wood-fired pizza oven allows customers to build up an appetite as the aromas of their order arrive at their table just before the food itself! – but there is also a delicious range of genuine Italian meat and fish recipes. Add to this the well–priced Menú del Día (only 11 euros on weekdays and 16 euros at the weekends), numerous vegetarian options, special dishes for children, live entertainment in the summer and the options of indoor and outdoor dining – both with great views over the bay of Mazarrón – and it’s not hard to understand how this has become one of the most popular restaurants in Puerto de Mazarrón!

Lunchtime set menu, weekend set menu and great selection of pizzas, pastas and Italian dishes
Located in an enviable spot on the main jetty of the marina in Puerto de Mazarrón, with fabulous views over the attractive marina and Mediterranean, Mamma Mía has been serving traditional Italian cuisine including a wide selection of pasta and pizza dishes since 2012, gaining an excellent reputation for quality food and equally digestible prices!
The authentic Italian dishes perfectly match the Mediterranean sunshine in this prime location in Mazarrón, and while pizzas and pasta are almost inevitably among the most popular dining options the meat and fish dishes also come straight from traditional Italian family recipes.
All pizzas are prepared on the premises and baked in authentic wood-fired pizza ovens, which are also used to make genuine Italian breads, bringing the scents and tastes of Italy to the Costa Cálida in a spot with great views out over the marina, the fishing port, the wide sandy beach of El Rihuete, the lighthouse and the bay of Mazarrón. As is the case with the wide variety of homemade pasta dishes, the pizza menu also includes various gluten-free options, as well as a few without tomato.
But of course Italian cuisine consists of more than pasta and pizza, and the starters on the à la carte menu include typical dishes such as arancini, bruschetta, carpaccio and seafood. Similarly, main course options include various meat and fish specialities, some of them typical of Italy and others which are more than familiar to the Spanish: after all, the Mediterranean diet is not restricted to Spain!
The restaurant has several attractive dining areas: an outdoor shaded terrace with views over the marina, an indoor dining area perfect for the winter, a roof terrace which opens in the summer (offering even better views!), a comfortable lounge area with sofas for morning coffee or an early evening cocktail, and a bar for casual drinks.
Equally attractive is the genuine wood-fired pizza oven which is open to view, so customers can watch their meals being prepared and then savour the aromas as it cooks, whetting the appetite before the finished article is brought straight to their table!
A takeaway service is also available for pizza orders, and additional conveniences include the availability of a special children’s menu. Mamma Mia is also happy to cater for group bookings and will tailor a package to suit the size and needs of the individual groups.
Menú del Día
The 11-euro lunchtime Menú del Día is available from 12.30 onwards on weekdays and 16 euros weekends at Mamma Mia, and with a variety of mouth-watering Italian specialities to choose from it is no surprise that this is a very popular option among customers.
The choice of three starters generally includes at least one pasta dish – try the delicious spaghetti vongole! – and the main course options might typically offer one grilled meat or stew dish, one based on grilled fish and a vegetarian option. The price also includes a choice of desserts – including traditional Italian favourites like tiramisu and pannacota – and a drink (a glass of house wine, a small beer or a soft drink).
At weekends an extended set menu is offered in place of the Menú del Día, priced at 16 euros.
Opening hours
During the winter Mamma Mia closes on Tuesdays, but is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11.00 to 16.00. On Fridays and Saturdays the restaurant is open all day (from 11.00 to 23.00) and then on Sundays from 11.00 to 18.00.
From Easter until the end of the summer all day opening hours apply every day of the week, and there are a variety of musical and other events held on the terrace: check the Mamma Mia Facebook page for details of forthcoming entertainment.
