Once again STRIDES has come around and the Leo's will join Lions on the Paseo in Mazarron on 14th November.LEOS are again raising awareness about diabetes with a WALK / SKATEBORD/ Roller skate in aid Sending young children with diabetes to a special camp where they will learn how to control their illness.


Without any word of encouragement the LEOS of Camposol took it upon themselves to help out with the clean up after the disaster on sector "D" last Thursday 25/9/14.


The LEOS CLUB was formally inaugurated on 28th March 2014 at MARIANO¨S RESTAURANT to the wonderful sounds of BARRINGTON.

This is the first independent LEOS CLUB to be opened in the whole of Spain.

Welfare activities in 2015-6  


Lions continue to be present every Friday outside OSCARS BAR Camposol B, selling Bric a Brac , Puzzles and anything else you may donate. 

Plastic tops collection for the Little Eva Appeal.

This continues with regular collection at the Bric a Brac stall on Fridays, in addition there is a collection point  in Totana.  

Eva's treatment needs to continue, we need to keep collecting tops by the ton.

Loan of wheelchairs and mobility equipment

The club now has a comprehensive collection of Wheelchairs (very popular for visiting elderly relatives), walking frames, crutches, bathing aids etc. These are loaned on the basis of a signed loan agreement, at no cost, all we ask is that you consider a donation to the club welfare fund which is saved specifically for such things as replacement equipment, repairs, servicing of wheelchairs etc.

100 years helping those in need!   

            1917: Founded by Melvin Jones a Chicago businessmen.  

1925: Helen Keller charges Lions with becoming "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness."

1930: Lion George Bonham paints a cane white with a wide red band to aid the visually impaired.

1939: Detroit Uptown Lions Club found first  school to train dog guides for visually impaired, starting dog guides programme worldwide.

1944: The world's first eye bank is created in New York City. Today, most eye banks are Lions-sponsored.

1945: Lions assist in drafting the United Nations Charter, starting a lasting bond with the U.N. Lions are given consultant status with the U.N. Economic and Social Council.

1956: The Detroit Lions Club gives 6-year-old Stevie Wonder a Christmas gift – a drum set.

1957: Lions launch youth programs, including the very successful Leo Clubs.

1968: Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) established. US$826 million in grants awarded todate.

1973: one millionth member joins.

1985: LCIF awards its first Major Catastrophe Grant of US$50,000 for earthquake relief in Mexico.

1986: Mother Teresa accepts the Lions Humanitarian Award.

1987: Lions opened to women members.

1990: Sight First project has raised over $415 million dollars to help eradicate major causes of blindness.

1995: LCIF partners with The Carter Center, to combat river blindness in Africa and Latin America.

2002: Lions charter two clubs in China, the nation's first voluntary membership group since the 1950s.

2003: Through Sight First, Lions and The Carter Center record their 50 millionth river blindness treatment.

2004: Lions raise US$15 million for South Asia tsunami relief..

2007: The FTranksLCIF as best non-governmental organization worldwide to partner with.

2010: The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation contributes US$5 million to the One Shot: One Life campaign, Lions raise US$10 million+ to support measles efforts over the next two years.

2011: Lions help administer 148 millionth dose of Mectizan to treat river blindness.

2013: LCIF partners with the GAVI Alliance to protect millions of children from measles and rubella. LCIFcommits US$30 million for immunizations, matched by US$30 million from UK Government and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, bringing the total to US$60 million.

2015: Lions launch the Centennial Service Challenge, a global initiative to serve 100 million people around the world. This was concluded in less than 8 months and expanded in early 2016 to cover 200 million service actions.

2017: June- now 1.5 million members in 200+ countries, recently celebrated the  100th anniversary.

The Mazarron Lions Club is part of a World Wide organisation now 100 years old. We are always open to requests from people interested to know more and possibly become members or supporters.

Lions Clubs International, our central governing body, is recognised by the United Nations as the biggest and best - non-governmental (NGO) relief organisation in the world today. Consisting of over 1.5 million members spread throughout 220 countries in over 45,000 clubs worldwide.  

LCI have been operating now for 100years and in 2017 celebrated its centennial, with Mazarron Bahia hosting a massive music night at Hotel Playa Grande. its 100th anniversary.

The organisation is a natural first call in times of disaster, and is recognised as a world leaders and prime movers in such things as disaster relief, helping with vacination programmes to cure preventable blindness and hearing problems, along with provision of clean water. It also runs a series of succesfull youth education & guidance programmes. In addition to fund raising and affording aid where appropriate, Lions of Mazarron Bahia  also enjoy an active social life.

  • All funds raised for Charity are spent on Charitable work. The members fund the operation of their club themselves.

                Events for  2016-17

The Lions Bric a Brac stall will reopen after the summer recess on Friday 1-9-2017 at  10.00.

If you are have a summer clean or down sizing or just generally want to say goodbye to things, please think of the Lions. We can collect, and from early September the kind folk at Costa Callida radio have said any one can leave bags, parcels etc with them for us to collect.
