The rain continues in the north of Spain while sunny skies prevail in the south

As Spain enters the last week of June the unexpected heatwave earlier in the month has given way to rather more unsettled weather, and the coming days will continue to be mixed, with abundant rainfall in the north of the country and rising temperatures to the south.

On Monday June 27, no fewer than eight provinces across the Valencian Community, Aragon, Catalonia and Navarra are on alert for storms and heavy rain, while cloudy intervals are expected for most of the south of Spain. Temperatures are on the increase along the west coast, declining slightly in the rest of the country.

Murcia will experience highs of 33ºC on Monday and Malaga will top out at a sweltering 35ºC, while Alicante will remain at a comfortable 28ºC.

Tuesday June 28 will be a more stable day with sunny skies across the board, although in the south of the Valencian Community, the Region of Murcia and Almeria an easterly wind will likely bring stifling humidity and even some light rain in the afternoon.

Showers are also forecast in the Bay of Biscay and the Pyrenees, while there is a yellow alert in place for strong winds in the Balearic Islands and Catalonia.

The mercury will climb a little higher in Alicante to reach 29ºC while thermometers plummet in Malaga to 25ºC.

Temperatures are once again on the rise on Wednesday June 29, with records above 35ºC forecast in most southern regions.

The mercury will dip a little by Thursday June 30, although the Guadalquivir valley and Mallorca will easily remain above 35ºC. Night-time temperatures will also take a welcome dive across Spain to the high teens.
