A bumper program has been put together to celebrate the Virgen de la Salud and San Miguel fiestas in the Vega Baja town, Alicante province
It's been more than three years since Redován celebrated its traditional festivities in honour of the Virgen de la Salud and San Miguel, and to make sure the much-anticipated fiestas are the biggest and best yet, a month of music and parades has been organised.
"In 2019, because of the DANA we could mark festivities in the way they deserved, and then the pandemic kept us waiting for another two years. This year we want to fulfill the dreams of the people of Redován," said Councilor for Fiestas. Nely Ruiz.
The bumper program of events is as follows, although some times have still to be confirmed.
August 27: Coronation of the Queens in Plaza de la Paz.
August 28: Children's party in the Plaza Miguel Hernández.
September 2: Musical Union of Redován concert in Plaza de la Paz followed by the 2019 parade awards ceremony.
September 3: Offering of Flowers will depart at 8pm from Plaza Miguel Hernández, and an hour later the Chupinazo will be fired from the Town Hall Town Hall by the Festero de Honor, Miguel Terol Martínez. This will be followed by DJ music in Plaza de la Cruz.
September 3 and 4: Remote-controlled cars championship in the polygon San Carlos.
September 4: The traditional exhibition of grass and hemp spinning by La Gramaera at their barracks.
September 7 and 8: The feast of the Virgen de la Salud will begin with a mass in honor of the patron saint officiated by the parish priest Eloy Martin and sung by the Manos Unidas Choir. At 8pm, the Virgen de la Salud procession will leave the church culminating in a fireworks display in Avenida de la Diputación.
September 9: Charanga tapeo music by Los Feos.
September 10, 9pm: The grand parade of peñas, barracas and queens in the town centre.
September 11: Water festival.
September 11 and 13: 'Sálvame' (Save Me) event in the bullfighting arena.
September 15: Horse show.
September 16: Dance Gala performed by Redován Dance Association.
September 17: The White Party featuring the Happy's at 9pm in Plaza Miguel Hernandez. Anybody wanting to attend must register at the Town Hall between September 1 and 16.
September 18: Performance of Aladdin at the Casa de la Música Antonio Ibáñez Serrano theatre.
September 23: Musical Mamma Mia in the Plaza de la Paz at 10.30pm.
September 24: Multicolour Parade from the Plaza de la Cruz followed by music from Los 80 Principales and a DJ.
September 25: Celebration of the XVII Meeting of Classic Motorcycles Villa de Redován with music from American Revival, the Musical Union of Redován and San Miguel Arcángel.
September 28: Musical show 'We are Eurovision' in Plaza de la Paz.
September 29: Feast of the patron saint. At midday there will be a mass officiated by the new parish priest, Emilio Manuel Sanchez Martinez, sung by the United Hands Choir. At 8pm the procession in honor of San Miguel will depart followed by a firework display in Avenida de la Diputación.
