667 new positives were reported for Sunday; the highest Sunday figure of the pandemic so far
On Monday, the 4th January, the number of active covid cases in the Murcia Region was 4,497 and just a week later we are facing 9,234 active cases, according to the latest figures presented on Monday 11th January.
667 new positives were diagnosed on Sunday 10th (the figures published on Monday always relate to the previous 24 hour period), and although 667 is a low figure when compared to the previous days when the region broke its own record for the number of new cases in a single day three times within a week, this figure relates to a Sunday, which is always a low day, and is the highest figure for any Sunday since the pandemic began.
The previous Sunday record was set on October 25th for 563 cases.
4,016 PCR and antibody tests were undertaken, yielding a positivity rate of 16,6%.
Of the 667 new cases, 169 correspond to the municipality of Murcia, 146 to Cartagena, 42 to Lorca, 37 to Caravaca de la Cruz, 26 to Jumilla, 26 to Molina de Segura, 21 to Yecla, 19 to Fortuna, 18 to La Unión , 14 to Mula, 14 to Las Torres de Cotillas, 11 to Alcantarilla, 11 to Fuente Álamo, 10 to Moratalla, 10 to Santomera, 9 to San Javier, 6 to San Pedro del Pinatar, 5 to Mazarrón, and 5 to Villanueva del Segura, the remainder distributed amongst the remaining municipalities.
Fatalities; 5 further deaths from coronavirus were confirmed for the last 24 hour period; three men and two women aged 74, 76, 83, 83 and 91 years old, two from Murcia, two from Cartagena and one from Jumilla, bringing the total fatalities to 787.
Hospitals: 6 patients were hospitalised on Sunday, bringing the total number of patients to 407, 87 of which are in intensive care. 8,827 patients are in home isolation with mild symptoms.
AI Rate:
The AI rate per 100,000 cases of population has soared in the last few days to 516 over 7 days and 713 over the last 14 days.
The worst affected municipalities over 14 days are; Fortuna 2116 cases per 100,000, an astronomical contagions rate, Abanilla 1925, Moratalla 1594,Jumilla 1484,Villanueva 1408,Mula 1155, La Unión 1147
Over 7 days: Moratalla 1518,Fortuna 1394,Abanilla 1077, Jumilla 988, Mula 924, Caravaca 850, La Unión 810, Ricote 791. The biggest worries are Murcia with a rate of 547, Lorca with 453 and Cartagena with 510, as these municipalities have the largest populations in the region and represent the highest number of actual patients. For example, Pliego has an AI rate of 493 over 7 days, but this only represents 19 patients as the municipality only has 3,847 inhabitants, but Cartagena has a rate of 510, which is only fractionally higher, but this represents1096 patients as the municipality has 214,802 inhabitants.
