ARCHIVED - Murcia Covid update September 27: 11 municipalities have been Covid-free for 14 days
ARCHIVED ARTICLE 11 municipalities in Murcia haven’t seen a single Covid case in the past two weeks
A further 34 Covid cases were detected in the Region of Murcia on Sunday, a decrease since the previous figures of 62 (corresponding with Saturday) and 75 (corresponding with Friday).
Although this latest figure is just over a third of the cases recorded on Thursday September 23 and around half of the figures from Friday and Saturday, it is important to note that Sunday’s figure is always lower than the weekly average and, therefore, more data is needed to determine whether the downward trend is intensifying.
Hospitalisations
Meanwhile, the latest hospital data reveals that there are currently 57 patients hospitalized with Covid in the Region, of whom ten are in intensive care; 11 fewer than on Thursday and one less ICU patient.
Recoveries
The latest update reports that, in total, 137,686 people have recovered from Covid since the start of the pandemic; 454 since the previous report.
Fatalities
Fortunately, no further Covid-related deaths have been reported in the most recent update, meaning that the total number of people who have lost their lives to Covid remains at 1,730.
Active cases
The addition of 34 new cases means that the number of active cases in the Region of Murcia now stands at 1,037, of whom 980 are at home in isolation.
Incidence rate
Both the 7-day and the 14-day cumulative incidence rates per 100,000 residents have decreased slightly since the previous update; 40 cases per 100,000 people in the past week (compared to 44.4 in Friday’s update) and 85 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the past two weeks (compared to 83.6 in Friday’s update).
However, the regional 14-day incidence rate in Murcia still remains higher than the national average, which was 69.37 per 100,000 inhabitants, according to the update released on Friday September 24.
Distribution according to municipality
Although Murcia as a region is not yet free of the dreaded coronavirus, there are 11 municipalities which currently have an incidence rate of zero, as they haven’t reported any positive cases in the past two weeks. These municipalities are: Ojós, Blanca, Moratalla, Ricote, Villanueva del Río Segura, Librilla, Ulea, Aledo, Albudeite, Ceutí and Campos del Río.
In addition, four more municipalities have been Covid-free for seven days: Alhama de Murcia, Fortuna, Abanilla and Bullas.
On the other hand, the municipalities with the highest 14-day incidence rates are Cehegín (352), Pliego (262) and Beniel (183), while the regions most populated municipalities, Murcia, Cartagena, Lorca and Molina de Segura, have rates of 104, 70, 127 and 68, respectively.
