Murcia braced for massive storm this week: This is when the rain will hit, says weather forecast April 21-24
ARCHIVED ARTICLE -
Meteorologists have one last thunderstorm prepared for us before a steep rise in temperatures towards the weekend
Just when it seemed that the weather was going to remain permanently calm and sunny until the end of the summer, Murcia has been thrown a curveball by the weather forecasters from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
Although temperatures will remain high and windspeeds will not be too strong throughout the whole week, and for the most part it will be dry and sunny with barely a cloud in the sky for the best part of the week, there is one day at the start of this week when there could be torrential downpours and thunderstorms.
Monday April 21 is expected to be bright and sunny all day long, with only some high cloud cover towards the afternoon and just a very small chance of rain.

On Tuesday morning, April 22, Aemet forecasts some “cloudy intervals accompanied by light to moderate rainfall” – so really just a sprinkling before we wake up. Then there is a brief respite until around midday when the rain becomes “more likely and heavy inland”.
This forecast includes the chance of thunderstorms across the entire Region of Murcia between the hours of 12pm and 6pm, after which the rain will suddenly clear up everywhere, say the weather forecasters, leaving a dry – if slightly overcast – night.

After that brief interlude, it is plain sailing for the rest of the week, with clear skies on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24, and just a gentle breeze.

In addition, daytime temperatures will climb from Thursday onwards, leaving a much warmer weekend with highs predicted of up to 29ºC in parts of central Murcia, although there will be cloudy patches.
