3,193 new infections and three Covid-related deaths in the region's three provinces, including Alicante
Valencia region's Ministry of Health has confirmed 3,193 Covid infections and three deaths in the last 48 hours, as the pressure continues to mount on hospitals with a further 42 admissions including six critical patients in ICU.
The figures are "worrying" but lower than the 3,452 cases registered in a single day between Friday and Saturday.
The latest data available shows the region has reached a cumulative incidence rate of 589, below the national average of 696, and Catalonia (980); while similar to Andalusia, which has risen to (584).
New cases: 3,193 new cases of coronavirus confirmed by PCR or antigen testing, bringing the total number of positives to 468,434 people. By provinces: 1,272 in Alicante - which is significantly higher than the 786 recorded on Friday - (167,515 in total); 1,597 in Valencia (252,459 in total); and 324 in Castellón (48,458 in total).
Hospitals: There are currently 731 Covid patients being treated in Valencian hospitals (up from 689), of whom 113 are in ICU (up from 107): 196 in the province of Alicante, 26 in ICU; 448 in the province of Valencia, 67 in ICU; and 87 in the province of Castellón, 20 in ICU.
Recoveries: 5,728 people have recovered since the last update (more than double Friday's 2,637), meaning 442,322 people have been given the all-clear since the start of the pandemic: 158,104 in Alicante province; 238,270 in Valencia; and 45,889 in Castellón.
Fatalities: There have been three reported deaths in the last seven days - two in Alicante province - meaning the total now stands at 7,502: 2,857 in Alicante; 3,832 in Valencia; and 813 in Castellón.
Active cases: There are currently 30,071 active cases, which represent 6.27 per cent of the total positives.
Vaccinations: A total of 3,277,408 people have received at least one dose and 2,675,853 are fully immunised. By provinces: 960,521 in Alicante; 1,398,253 in Valencia; and 317,079 in Castellón.
Outbreaks: Of the recorded outbreaks, three have 10 or more associated cases, with one in Alicante province: Novelda with 28 cases of social origin.
