180 new infections across the region, including Alicante province, and no reported deaths
The positive trajectory on Covid data has continued on the whole this week in the Valencia region, with the number of new cases falling by more than 50% in five days, and the 14-day cumulative incidence sliding once again to 31.83 cases per 100,000 people.
But whilst there have been no fatalities reported in the last 24 hours, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health, there have been 10 Covid-related deaths since Monday October 11, and although there are six less patients in hospitals across the region, half a dozen more seriously ill people are being treated in ICUs.
She added that "this is an age group with a lot of social interaction and mobility", but an immunisation level of 78%.
A breakdown of today's Covid data shows:
New cases
A further 180 new cases have been reported since the last update on Thursday, down from 290 on Monday October 11, bringing the total number of positives since the beginning of the pandemic to 511,981. By province: 45 in Castellón (53,461 in total); 73 in Alicante (187,860) and 62 in Valencia (270,659).
Recoveries
157 people have recovered from Covid since the last update, meaning that to date, 513,965 people in the Valencian region have overcome the virus. By province: 53,848 in Castellón; 187,913 in Alicante; and 272,148 in Valencia.
Hospitalisations
There are currently 143 people admitted to hospitals in the three provinces, down from 149 on Monday, 41 of whom are being treated in ICUs: 30 in the province of Castellón, four in ICU; 63 in the province of Alicante, 27 in ICU; and 50 in the province of Valencia, 10 of them in ICU.
Fatalities
There have been no deaths since the last update, meaning the total now stands at 7,819 fatalities since the start of the pandemic: 849 of these deaths have been recorded in Castellón; 2,998 in Alicante; and 3,972 in the province of Valencia.
Vaccinations
A total of 4,063,247 people have now received one dose of vaccine, and 4,015,929 people are fully immunised with two doses of Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZeneca, or the single-dose Janssen.
Active cases
According to the latest data, there are currently 1,648 active cases in the community, which represents 0.31% of the total positives.
Outbreaks
Since the last update, there have been no reported outbreaks with 10 or more associated cases.
