One of the new initiatives in the cultural calendar of Caravaca de la Cruz this year is the recovery of the concert cycle known as “Conciertos Sentidos”, which had not been held for 15 years, and the season continues on 27th October with a performance by Rocío Galena and Damián Olmo.
The cycle continues at 13.00 at the Ethnic Musical Instruments museum, which also houses the remarkable Carlos Blanco Fadol collection, with the aim of presenting a variety of musical traditions rooted in the Catholic, Moorish, Celtic and Jewish cultures. Given the early start, there is plenty of opportunity to sample the hearty rural cuisine for a protracted lunch in the village or the surrounding countryside!
Milo ke Mandarini, formed in Extremadura by Carlos Ramírez and Isabel Martín, embody this ethos to their core, having investigated and performed the musical traditions of the Mediterranean since 2008 and played in Greece, Bulgaria and Turkey. They are a popular act at folk festivals and published their album “La vereda de la gitana” in 2016, working with Eliseo Parra, Efrén López, Christos Barbas and Miriam Encinas while continuing to perform in Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Turkey, Freece, mMorocco and Germany.
They specialize in Sephardic Jewish music, sometimes rebuilding old instruments themselves to continue transmitting this cultural heritage.
Admission to the concert is free of charge.
