ARCHIVED - Only 81 new cases of covid in Murcia Region on Monday 23rd November
ARCHIVED ARTICLE
The level of active cases has dropped to under 9,000 as the number of recoveries exceeds the number of new cases
Last week the Murcia Region reported almost half the number of cases of the previous week and the figures for Monday are once again encouraging, with the lowest number of new cases in a single day since August.
Only 81 new coronavirus cases were diagnosed on Sunday (bear in mind that the figures published on Monday relate to the 24 hour period concluding at midnight on Sunday), bringing the total number of cases diagnosed in the region to date to 51,747.
Of the 81 new cases, 26 correspond to the municipality of Murcia, 15 to San Javier, 5 to Torre Pacheco, 4 to Cartagena, 3 to San Pedro del Pinatar, and 3 to Totana, the remaining 25 cases spread around the region in smaller quantities.
AI rate.
The accumulated incidence rate, which calculates the number of cases per 100,000 of population has also fallen as a result, logically, less cases pushing this rate down, so in just one week, the accumulated incidence rate has gone from 311 to 166 cases per 100,000 inhabitants over 7 days, a reduction in the number of new infections of almost half. The 14 day rate is 478. An easy way of assessing whether the rate of infections is improving is to double the 7 day rate (which always relates to the last 7 days); if the figure is lower than the 14 day rate, then the situation is improving, if it’s higher, then the situation in the last 7 days has worsened. So in this case, the 7 day rate is 166, which becomes 332 when doubled so it’s easy to see quickly that there has been an improvement. The 14- day rate is 478, so take away the 166 which we know is the total for the last 7 days, leaving 312 for the first week, so there is a clear improvement in the situation.
The last 4 columns of the graphic below show this difference by municipality; first the 14 day figures showing number of cases and AI rate and then the 7 day figures, broken down by municipality.
