ARCHIVED - Over 5,000 issues were tackled in Alhama and Condado in 2022 thanks to the citizen participation app
ARCHIVED ARTICLE -
Municipal brigades attended more than 5,600 incidents last year which were reported on the ‘MejorAlhama’ app
The ‘MejorAlhama’ app, a programme which was launched in 2017 by the
Alhama de Murcia Town Council to improve communication and citizen participation, has been downloaded more than 1,500 times in the last five years, and helped the Town Hall to attend to more than 5,000 incidents of importance to local residents in 2022 alone.
With the app, anyone who lives in Alhama, on the
Condado de Alhama urbanisation or in the surrounding areas can contact the Town Council directly to report any incidents they come across, and of course to request a solution.
Local Councillor for Infrastructures and Public Services, Antonio García, explained that 90% of reported incidents are resolved within a few days, some even the very next day.
But the real heroes of this story, “those who really make this tool work,” says Francisco Arroyo, head of the Municipal Warehouse, are the municipal operators who carry out the work, “the real protagonists”.
In a presentation this week of the annual statistics for the app, he explained that 350,000 euros were spent resolving 4,890 of the residents’ 5,601 reported issues in the last year. In Arroyo’s words, there have been “4,890 problems that we have taken away from people”.
The most common incidents reported on the app are those relating to electricity supply problems, while the Guadalentín sports complex is the place where the highest number of problems have been solved.
