San Pedro del Pinatar has 14 kilometres of Mediterranean and Mar Menor beaches

San Pedro del Pinatar offers visitors 14 kilometres of glorious beaches, with both Mediterranean and Mar Menor locations to choose from.

In the Mar Menor, Villananitos, La Puntica and La Mota are tranquil, sandy beaches, with shallow, calm waters, a safe bathing option for families as the beaches slope slowly and gently into the Mar Menor, the largest inland saltwater lake in Europe,  warm at its sandy fringes.

This is a haven for those seeking seaside family bathing, and is also a hotspot for water sports enthusiasts, with superb sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and kitesurfing facilities, as well as opportunities to enjoy a wide range of alternative sports and leisure activities.

On the Mediterranean side, the beaches of La Llana, comprising Playa de las Salinas, Barraca Quemada and Punta de Algas, are wide and open, backed by sandy dunes, with long rolling waves, a paradise for those seeking a long walk on the shores of a sandy beach, with the smell of the sea and sea wind cooling hot summer bodies.

Playa de La Torre Derribada and Playa El Mojón are also attractive open natural coastal beaches, with vast amounts of open space for those who prefer the fresher breezes of the Med, and more space to sunbathe in peace.

Another extremely important location within San Pedro del Pinatar is the zone known as Las Charcas, which includes the popular Baños de Lodo, or mud baths. Playa de la Puntica

Playa de la Puntica is within the pedanía of Lo Pagán, and is the first beach within the San Pedro del Pinatar municipality after crossing the border from Santiago de la Ribera and San Javier.

The beach itself is a busy and popular summer beach,  520 metres long, with an average width of 40 metres in width and deep, well cared-for sand.

There are a range of facilities available, including hire of recreational sporting equipment, hire of sunshades and loungers, toilets and changing rooms which are adapted for disabled use, footwashes, ramps, and shaded gardens as well as chiringuitos ( beach bar ) facilities.

There is a wooden walkway giving access to the water during summer months, parking for disabled bathers and bathing seats are available for disabled users during peak months.

Playa de Villananitos

Playa de Villananitos is within the pedanía of Lo Pagán, and is opposite to the zone known as Las Charcas, which includes the popular Baños de Lodo, or mud baths. This beach joins with Playa de la Mota, beginning in the corner by the Molina de Quintín, the windmill of Quintín.

The beach itself is a busy and popular summer beach, 840  metres long and with an average width of 30 metres, with fine thick sand.

The beach has been awarded Q for Quality status in recongnition of the quality of its services and facilities as well as the quality of the water,

Playa de la Mota

Playa de la Mota is located along the dividing strip of land demarking the physical barrier between the Parque Regional Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro del Pinatar and the Mar Menor.

The beach effectively starts in the corner of the junction between the urban town, the Salinas and the Mar Menor, denoted by the Molino de Quintín, the windmill of Quintín, and runs for 2.7km down to the windmill of La Calcetera, el Molino de la Calcetera.

It has an impressively average width of 50 metres, with a mixture of sand and stone, depending on its proximity to the town.

This particular beach is opposite to the zone known as Las Charcas, which includes the popular Baños de Lodo, or mud baths. so is frequently used as a dry-off point by mud bathers, although the strip of sand is quite thin at this particular point.

These are a magnet for those seeking natural healing, the mineral rich muds used for centuries as a natural and gentle healer for all types of complaints including  rheumatism and arthritis.

Playas de La Llana

The Playas de la Llana comprises three beaches in a long run, one virtually indistinguishable from the other, backed by sand dunes and the salinas natural park, with fine, soft sand. These are known as Playa Salinas, Playa de Barraca Quemada and Playa Punta de Algas, and all of them are low occupancy mainly due to the fact that parking is difficult. The main parking area is by the Yacht Marina, where there are restaurants and bars serving a variety of meals and snacks, and from there the path leads off along the top of the sand dunes linking the three beaches.

The car park is accessed by driving through the the regional park of the salt flats ("salinas") and dunes of San Pedro del Pinatar.

Playa de La Torre Derribada

Playa de La Torre Derribada is also within the regional park , and is a vast, sandy, Mediterranean coastline beach .

It's 2.2 kilometres long, with an average width of 30 metres, and backs onto the natural sandy dunes of the parkland, which give it  an environmental protection status.

Being an attractive wild beach, it is also an extremely popular area for those who enjoy a gentle walk, and throughout the year visitors and residents will drive to this beach to walk along the shoreline or follow the paths through the salinas park.

Playa El Mojón

The Blue Flag beach of El Mojón is within the district of the same name and is a wide, sandy Mediterranean coastline beach.

The El Mojón pedanía is fairly densely occupied, with a high concentration of holiday homes and residential apartments in the streets behind the beach, although is an attractive area and very popular with residential expats.

The beach itself is 465 metres long and an average of 50 wide, with fine, soft sand, and is an environmentally protected area, next to the Parque Regional Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro del Pinatar.

From the main residential area, the walkway down to the sand is backed by decked and shaded seating areas, with wooden walkways crossing the sand dunes onto the beach itself.
