Yecla celebrates the Fiestas of San Blas with a free guided evening tour, starting at 17.30 in the Parque de la Constitución, alongside the Teatro Concha Segura and visiting the theatre itself, the Basilica de la Purísima, la parroquía de la Asunción and Museo de Semana Santa.
The visit concludes in front of the “niche of San Blas” where a bonfire is traditionally lit on the eve of the Fiestas of San Blas, over which locals leap!
Alongside the bonfire, wine and dried fruits are traditionally shared.
In Yecla a sweet bread known as Pan Bendito is sold around the time of the festivities of san Blas, knotted into intricate designs and glazed, before being dressed with twirls of paper and the mandatory figure of the saint.
