Pupils at the primary schools in Zarcilla de Ramos and La Paca, both in the municipality of Lorca, were evacuated from the buildings on Friday morning after an earthquake measuring 3.6 on the mbLg scale caused a certain amount of panic although no damage has been reported.
The tremor occurred at 9.12 in the morning and was felt in many parts of the Region of Murcia including Caravaca, Cehegín, Mula, Alhama, Pliego, Aledo, Lorca, Totana and even the regional capital, as the map above shows. However, classes were not disrupted at the secondary school in La Paca despite the alarm as residents recalled a quake measuring 4.7 mbLg which caused damage to around 900 homes on 29th January 2005.
