Semana Santa Mazarrón 2012

Semana Santa in Mazarrón and Puerto de Mazarrón

Mazarrón has two separate Semana Santas, one in the Puerto de Mazarrón and the other in Mazarrón itself, although the municipality doesn´t have a substantial celebration as do some of the other municipalities close by. It´s one which local residents might like to attend, but isn´t on the same sort of scale as those in, for example, Alhama or Totana, which have substantially more pasos.

Wednesday 4th April
Miércoles Santo
22:00 h. Procesión de las Promesas
Paso: Cristo de las Promesas
Starting point: Residencia de Asilo de Ancianos. The route goes via calle Filomeno Hostench, la calle Covadonga, la avenida Constitución, calle del Pino, la calle Ana Moreno, la Iglesia de San Antonio de Padua, la calle Comandante García Sánchez until it arrives at the Salón Parroquial.

Thursday 5th April
Jueves Santo
21:30 h. Procesión del Prendimiento
Pasos: Flagelación, Verónica, Jesús Nazareno, Calvario, Cristo de la Soledad y Virgen de la Amargura
Starting point: Plaza del Convento, the Iglesia de la Purísima

Friday 22nd April
9pm
Viernes Santo
Procesión del Santo Entierro
Pasos: Cristo del Sagrario, La Piedad, Virgen de la Cruz, Santo Sepulcro, San Juan y Virgen de la Soledad
Starting point: Plaza del Convento, Iglesia de la Purísima

Sunday 1st April
12:00 h. Procession of palms, with many children from the municipality participating,
Route, from the  Ermita de San Antón in the district of san Isidro to the Iglesia de San José, via Calles San Isidro and Calle Cartagena.

Thursday 5th April
19:00 h. Celebration of the ofices of "In Coena Domini".
Iglesia de San José.
21:00 h. Procession of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno, with 5 pasos in the parade: San Pedro, San Juan, la Virgen de las Penas, Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno and the Virgen de los Dolores
Starting from  Iglesia de San José, taking a route via calles Cartagena, Trafalgar, Progreso, Mayor, Juan Sebastián Elcano, avenida Tierno Galván, calle González Ballesta, and then back into calle Mayor and returning to the parroquía.

Friday 6th April
Parade of the Santo Entierro.
21:30 Procession of the  Santo Entierro.
Starting point Iglesia de San José.
5 pasos: San Pedro, San Juan, Cristo del Perdón con la Virgen de la Soledad, el Santo Sepulcro and the  Virgen de las Penas
Starting from  Iglesia de San José, taking a route via calles Cartagena, Trafalgar, Progreso, Mayor, Juan Sebastián Elcano, avenida Tierno Galván, calle González Ballesta, and then back into calle Mayor and returning to the parroquía.
