Storms ease off but rain continues: Spain weather forecast February 3-6
ARCHIVED ARTICLE -
Rain and showers will predominate at the beginning of the week in southern Spain, but this should clear up towards the weekend
Average temperatures expected on Wednesday February 5
After a miserable end to last week thanks to storm Ivo, the rain cleared up in much of the country over the weekend, with the exception of the Mediterranean coast. Over the next few days, those living inland or in the extreme south of Spain may still need to have the umbrellas at the ready, but thankfully the worst of the storm activity has moved away for the time being.
The week will start with fairly unstable weather in areas of the south and southeast of the country, and warnings have been issued for rain, snow and coastal winds in parts of Andalucía and Cueta.
However, between Tuesday and Friday, the cold front will gradually withdraw from the Mediterranean, making way for mostly clear skies.
Monday February 3
The unsettled weather will continue in much of southern Spain on Monday, with overcast skies and occasional stormy intervals forecast up and down the coast.
An anticyclone will establish itself in the rest of Spain and although the day will begin rather cloudy, this should clear towards the afternoon.
Daytime temperatures will tend to increase in the north and the Balearic Islands while dropping throughout the southeast, falling to a chilly 16ºC in Alicante.
Orange alert for rain, cold temperatures and dangerous sea conditions: Andalucía
Yellow alerts for rain, cold temperatures and dangerous sea conditions: Aragon, Asturias, Galicia, Ceuta.
Tuesday February 4
A high pressure system should enter from the west of Spain, although a low pressure will continue in the southeast, destabilising the weather in the area and resulting in light showers and mostly overcast skies.
Elsewhere, it should be lightly cloudy or clear.
Daytime temperatures will start to climb across the board although Tuesday night will be colder than previous days.
All of the weather alerts have been lifted.
Wednesday February 5
On Wednesday, mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands are expected to be in the midst of an anticyclone that will cover a large part of the European continent. As a result, clear skies are expected without rain, except for some low clouds with light showers in the Cantabrian Sea, the Alboran Sea and the autonomous cities.
Maximum temperatures will tend to fall slightly in the northeast of the country and in the Balearic Islands and rise by a degree or two in the rest of Spain, reaching a pleasant 19ºC in the likes of Murcia and Sevilla.
Thursday February 6
The settled weather will continue on Thursday. Clear skies are expected with no rain on the horizon, except for some low clouds in the Cantabrian Sea and the Alboran Sea, where showers are not ruled out.
Daytime temperatures will tend to rise in the Canary Islands, while no significant changes are expected in the rest of the country.
