Tax deadline looms for non-resident property owners
The clock is ticking for all non-resident owners of property in Spain to pay their annual taxes – even if they do not generate income by renting their villa or apartment out.
Failure to stay up to date with this annual obligation can result in fines, current account embargoes and serious complications with the Spanish tax authorities.
An estimated 1 million British nationals have invested in holiday homes across Spain, including popular holiday islands such as Ibiza and Tenerife. However, many remain unaware of this fiscal liability.
Even though these non-resident owners don’t receive any rental income from their second home in Spain they still have to pay an annual tax on the property – the Modelo 210 non-letting tax. As the Spanish authorities deem the property to be an asset which could be rented out in the future.
The deadline for these Modelo 210 submissions is now looming – as returns and payments must be completed by December 31st.
Save Money, Time and Hassle - Pay Your Modelo 210 Taxes Online
Spanish Taxes Online is an innovative online service that has been created by fully qualified, professional accountants to solve this very problem and save property owners time, money and all of the hassle of interacting with the Spanish tax authorities.
Their service is quick and easy to use and they take care of the whole process by calculating the amount of tax owed and then filling out and filing the return on the behalf of owners – before providing an official receipt. All for the low cost of just €59 (plus 7% VAT) – which is much cheaper than using a lawyer or traditional accountancy service.
Five Star Reviews – High Quality Service
The company is fully accredited and authorised by the Spanish tax authorities and the quality of their service has generated an Excellent rating and numerous 5 Star Reviews on independent platforms such as Trust Pilot and Google Reviews.

What Happens If I Don’t Pay?
Failure to pay the Modelo 210 non-letting tax can lead to complications with the authorities in Spain, especially when owners come to sell their properties. Whilst in some instances, fines have been issued and embargoes imposed, with the Spanish authorities extracting taxes owed directly from non-resident bank accounts.
Spanish Taxes Online (www,spanishtaxesonline.com) offer low-cost tax returns for non-resident property owners.
The easy to use, fully accredited online service takes the hassle out of filing your Modelo 210 non-letting taxes. A team of professional accountants calculate your bill, then fill out and file a return on your behalf - which means there is no need to interact directly with the Spanish tax authorities – all for just €59 plus VAT (for up to two owners).
This offers potential savings for owners who are currently using a lawyer or accountant to do the job for them which could easily amount to hundreds of euros! Whilst those who have been filling in the paperwork for themselves until now can now save hours of their valuable time.
Little wonder then that this innovative online service is proving so popular with non-resident homeowners – with previous satisfied customers awarding Spanish Taxes Online five star reviews and an Excellent rating on platforms such as Trust Pilot and Google.
The Modelo 210 tax is basically an annual levy on “imputed income” from residential property. Non-resident-owned properties are automatically deemed to be a form of income by the Spanish tax authorities, regardless of whether they are rented out or not, and this is a tax on the hypothetical income.
The non-letting tax is levied retrospectively, and the deadline on 31st December 2021 relates to the year 2020.
Spanish Taxes Online has been launched by Ben Einar Simkins, a specialist in the field of non-resident taxation who set up his tax consultancy in Spain in 1993. After gaining a degree in Economics he became a fully-qualified tax consultant and adviser, as well as a member of leading Spanish trade bodies such as the CFE (Association of European Tax Advisers) and the REAF (Association of Economists and Fiscal Assessors).
