ARCHIVED - Three Kings parade returns to the streets of Alicante city: January 5 2022

The procession which attracts thousands to the Costa Blanca city was cancelled last year due to the pandemic
The traditional Three Kings parade will return to the streets of Alicante on January 5 2022, provided the health situation allows, with tickets available from December 26.
The Town Hall was forced to cancel the procession last year due to the pandemic, but despite a recent surge in Covid cases in the Valencia region, the local authority remains positive and plans to line the streets of the city centre with thousands of seats.
Sixty per cent of the seats will be available online from Boxing Day, with the remaining 40% at the Bullring ticket office on the day. Further details will be announced over the next couple of weeks.
Around 5,000 seats will be distributed along the official route of the parade, which will set off from Avenida de la Estación and pass along Avenida de Alfonso El Sabio and the Rambla. There will be two rows on both sides and one in Calle Altamira.
The Three Kings will make their way through the streets to Plaza del Ayuntamiento, where the Adoration of the Infant Jesus will take place on stage.
The festive program of events on January 5 is as follows, but could be subject to change:
5pm: 'La Estación de los Cuentos' (the station of tales) family show at the Bullring ahead of the official reception of the Three Kings. Five performers will take the audience on a journey through traditional fairy tales before the Three Kings arrive at 6pm. Attendance will be limited due to the health situation, and entry will be by free ticket only.
7pm: The parade will depart from Avenida de la Estación, near Alicante Provincial Palace, featuring live music from members of the Federation of Moors and Christians of Alicante (FMYCA), The Ciudad de Asís band, and the Municipal Symphonic Band, along with various entertainment groups, ballet, a Biblical train of five floats, live nativity scene, inflatable animated TV characters, and members of religious brotherhoods and fraternities.
As is tradition, three tons of soft, gluten-free sweets will be handed out along the route, and more than 2,000 toys.
