One of the illegal migrants who arrived by boat on Monday has also tested positive, forcing quarantining of 23 police officers
On Thursday afternoon there are now 42 active cases of Covid-19 in the Region of Murcia, an increase of just one case against the figures for Wednesday.
Two new positives were recorded in the last 24 hours, but existing patients continue to recover, so the balance of the day is one more positive case than yesterday.
35 of these patients are in home isolation with mild symptoms, 7 are hospitalised with more serious conditions, two of them in intensive care.
There have been no fatalies, the total remaining at 150, the same as yesterday, with only one death in the last 3 weeks.
The two new positives for Wednesday are from two people in the same family resident in San Pedro del Pinatar. According to the Ministry of Health, these two new cases are related to a different flight from Bolivia on the 10th June and are not believed to be related to the other flight from Bolivia into Barajas Airport, Madrid, which caused an outbreak last week and arrived on the 3rd.
That outbreak has left 19 cases in the Murcia region, spread across Murcia, Cartagena and an outlying district of Moratalla in the north-west of the region, with 60 people in isolation, but according to the regional Minister of Health, the cases in san pedro are not being treated as an outbreak.
Work is underway to contact and test all known contacts as well as the other passengers on the flight in different areas of Spain.
Throughout the crisis flights have operated from the Americas, bringing residents of Spain back to the country.
Bolivia currently has 27,487 cases reported with 876 deaths, and over a thousand new cases in the last 24 hours with a population of just over 11 million..
The regional Government will not rule out the possibility of re-introducing partial confinement of some municipalities where outbreaks occur the Minister of Health, Manuel Villegas, said on Thursday. The regional Government has the legal capacity to isolate a certain municipality if necessary, he said when presenting the latest figures.
At the moment there are no cases which warrant such consideration, he reiterated.
Illegal migrant tests positive in Águilas
As a result of this, three officers from the Local Police force of Águilas and another 20 from the Lorca national police have been temporarily put into isolation pending a coronavirus test after having had contact with the man.
The infected migrant had initial contact with the local police officers in Águilas and those in Lorca person while being transferred to dependencies of the National Police in Lorca.
There may be further quarantines to follow in relation to the migrant who was also in contact with the Guardia Civíl and medical personnel.
Since the outbreak began there have been a total of 3,289 positive cases in the Region of Murcia, 1,660 (two more in the last 24 hours) of them by PCR tests and 1,629 by antibody tests (nine more). The total number of tests carried out is 58,617 PCR tests and 60,173 serological tests.
