They are accused of boiling water over the Murcia victim and threatening to cut off his penis over a drug debt
Two men aged 19 and 22, accused of kidnapping and torturing a man in Cartagena over an alleged drug debt contracted by his brother, each face nine years and nine months in prison.
They are due to be sentenced for illegal detention and causing aggravated injuries using a 'dangerous instrument'. The Public Prosecutor's Office is also demanding they compensate the victim with 14,590 euros.
The attack took place on March 9 when the two defendants Ruben E. and Fernando C, allegedly stumbled upon the victim in a street in Cartagena and lured him to a house in in the Santa Lucía neighbourhood on the pretense that someone else wanted to talk to him.
Once there, they allegedly assaulted him, stripped him naked and tied him to a ladder, using a chain with a padlock.
To prevent him from escaping or calling for help, they stuffed a cloth in his mouth and placed a rubbish bag over his head. They then allegedly threw boiling water on his legs, hip and side.
The detainees also told the victim that they were going to cut off his penis and Fernando C. allegedly took a knife, and cut the victim's genitals.
After reportedly torturing the victim, the pair left him completely naked, tied up and with the cloth in his mouth.
According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, the kidnapee managed to free himself and, "completely naked and terrified", he jumped from the roof of the house onto the street, hiding behind some cars before calling for help.
The victim was admitted to Santa Lucía hospital, where he remained for several weeks.
Sentencing is due to take place at Murcia's Fifth Section of the Provincial Court on Tuesday May 16.
